i seem to be exceptionally good at piecing together the events that lead up to a typo

that is, i can explain by looking at the typo exactly why and how the typo occurred

I do this all the time and I never realized it until you said that.

my typos are generally the result of my keyboard, multi-tasking, or freudian slips.

None of which are easily identified or categorized GET OUT OF MY HEAD CHARLES.

The one thing I am exceptionally good at is finding the best course of action for the desired outcome, both for myself and for others. Whenever anyone doesn't know what to do or needs to get out of something they come to me. My OCD in combination with my intelligence really help me to shine in this area. I am capable of imagining every possible outcome of every possible decision or action with surprising accuracy, and from there I usually take it even a few levels deeper.

I use this ability to get out of things, to buy myself time in situations where I am not entirely prepared or prepared incorrectly, to help my friends do the same, as well as to advise them in relationships both romantic and platonic. This ability has a fatal flaw though, in that it causes me to choose inaction in situations where the desirable outcome is uncertain and too many undesirable outcomes exist to too great of a severity. This is not usually a problem in getting out of things or in taking advantage of procedural technicality, but it becomes troublesome when dealing with the opposite sex. My fear of the undesirable outcomes leads me to only act at the point where the most undesirable outcomes are clearly the least probable. It is a blessing and a curse, but I would sacrifice it in an instant if I could. It makes my life feel too controlled sometimes.

I won't lie, I am an exceptional mediator. I've had some friends come to me before and ask my opinion on a situation, and they invariably followed my advice.

Also, I'm a pretty talented tutor as well - I have a deep understand of placing where a student is on a learning curve, how far I can take them and what they need from me and from themselves to develop themselves further.

There is no greater joy for me than witnessing the dawning comprehension of an idea worked out by a student on their own (the trick is not to tell them, it's to ask questions that lead to the subject).

I can read people exceptionally well, but it's better if I know them first. I was able to pick what song out of 3,900+ I have on my iPod that my friend was going to pick based on what they had said earlier in the day and their facial response to a text message. I'm also really good at deductive reasoning and paying attention to detail and body language. My neighbor is an alcohol distributor with an alcoholic wife, but I was able to figure out the druthers of their relationship through the first conversation, the way she held her arms, and when he spoke, the way she looked at him, or didn't.

It's fucking useless, though. The iPod thing was a neat trick, though.

I'm having a hard time picking one thing...I have a lot of things I'm pretty good at, but they're all stupid things. If I had to choose one thing, though, I'd say that I'm really good at making people think certain things based on how I say things. I like to think it's being a good salesman, but instead of selling a product, I'm selling my words.

An example of this could be a video editing class I have. I didn't go for 3 weeks straight, and by the time I got back, I had the professor feeling bad for my situation, when in reality, I wasn't doing the homework and had no reason to go to class.

I mean, I think that's the most common desired trait to have, but I really don't think most people are good at it. I'm probably not. Like I said, I'm only good at reading people that I know. Deductive reasoning is a little better. But I'm an impressive liar. That also comes from the acting.

    And I can slam-dance like a motherfucker.

I don't think I can ever be serious. I have times when I know I should be(serious) but the need to make a joke or just laugh it off overwhelms me.This is mainly bad when I am talking to girls. Like when I need to tell a girl I like her she just think I am kidding and it's like one big elaborate joke.

Overall it's a good and bad thing.

A lot of people aren't as good at reading others as they think they are.

I know a handful of people who believe they are excellent at reading other people's emotions when in fact they are some of the most oblivious people I know.

I'm normally a pretty damn good judge of character.

After knowing someone for about ten minutes, I pretty have them figured out. I don't know how. I'm just really good at reading body language and figuring out what people like, dislike, do, think, etc.

I have no idea how...but it happens.

It also helps when a friend needs comforting.

For clarification, I don't think I can read people particularly well, I am just good at predicting how they will react by analyzing everything they could possibly do and then eliminating what is out of character or improbable until I reach an acceptable tolerance of possibilities which I then reorganize in two orders: from least to most desirable and from least to most likely. From there I weigh all relevant data, and sometimes predict possible scenarios that would be caused by those possible outcomes, until I come up with the safest course of action with the greatest potential.

This formula rarely ever fails me. It is only fallible when people behave out of character or an unforeseen variable enters that I don't have time to analyze or adjust to.

Yes, because people act out of character, or do horribly illogical things on a surprisingly regular basis, and all the analysis has to be re evaluated.

I do roughly the same thing.

Understanding that your actions have consequences is important, but learning how to control them can pretty much only be achieved through trial and error. Even then, you won't have a 100% success rate.

The answer is, unless people die or get hooked on drugs, anything you say to them did not make their lives particularly worse.

yeah, this only works on a minority of students though, the ones who keep up with the workload and know enough to figure things out for themselves but not enough to not think the subject is hard

a lot of times i give up on the question-answer approach and just show them the solution for the following reasons:
    - poor foundations that should have been built years ago
    - lack of enthusiasm or response
    - can't understand what they're saying due to an accent, or they speak too softly
    - the solution is too unintuitive

I think I am exceptionally good at knowing what is the right thing to do. Occasionally it's a matter of intuition, but 99% of the time I have to make a moral decision, I can identify the right course of action quickly and defend it with a sound argument.

EDIT: Obviously I don't always follow the right course of action, however.

I'm exceptionally good at wasting time. When people come over I even often get the comment "wow I've never met someone who is so good at wasting time." I am always coming up with lots of fun little things to do, and people always wonder how so much time has passed.

Well, so much of any tutoring is tailored to the specific needs of the students. Generally, I try to find out as much about them as I care about - their general interests, hobbies, etc. - to get an image of their character. From there, I try to explain every concept as it applies to something they have experience with. Everything turns into an analogy based in their experience in one thing or another.

Of course, this approach doesn't work every time, but generally people respond to it really well, unless they are just having me tutor them because they feel obligated to learn something, but refuse to put in any kind of effort. Them, I will just tell the answer, leave and never help again.

    generally i can't stand extensive one-on-one tutoring
if they need to pay for a private tutor, chances are there is something fundamentally off

the "tutoring" i do now is i sit in a common room and random people come in to ask for help
this supplements my teaching in 30-student tutorials, which i prefer given not all faces are blank

Most Video games. I wasn't "pro" good at Halo 3, but I probably could've held my own in a pro CoD 4 tourney, and at my peak of Halo 2, 3, or CoD 4, I was probably top 2 or 3 in Utah, and surrounding states.
