Acer laptop sound problem

I made a video so you can hear the sound:

I use an external sound card, which works perfectly fine. But I'm getting this constant crackling sound through the laptops speakers. It doesn't sound good at all, and is constant. It doesn't go away if I change the volume.

Was fine last night and early this morning. Now...it's not.

My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5610.

And when I unplug the external card and try playing sound it says this...

'Bad DirectSound Driver. Please Install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.

Error Code: 88780078'

ya apparently this is a common problem with acer

i bought an aspire 5739g and it occasionally crackles but nothing as bad as yours.

i have nothing to contribute to this thread.

Oh, and as for the laptop speaker thing? In my rather unexpert opinion, I suspect it might be permanent. All I can say is that you either have something wrong with your amplifiers, in which case you need new speakers, or there's a noise signal traveling down the line, in which case you might have to buy a new sound card or there's a problem with a connection somewhere. It could be EM pickup, but that's pretty unlikely.

It's possible that your cones could be damaged since these probably are not high quality speakers.

So obviously, the first diagnostic you should do is plug in a set of external speakers to you sound card, or use the external sound card on another laptop.

Was there anything weird that happened just prior to this at all that you can remember? Did push your speakers, by any chance, beyond their limits and get an overdriven sound, or do you do you this regularly?

Also, if you have an equalizer, adjust the equalization and see how that affects the noise.

Well then install the right driver you twat. Or it's probably just a matter of switching to the internal sound card, assuming you have one or isn't fried. Do that in Device Manager.

That error is irrelevant. It popped up because I unplugged my external usb sound when I had winamp open. It shows no other devices in the sound section

you laptop is better than this? what are the specs?

i got this for $650 on a black friday discount. normally it was $750, and i think equivalent laptops off of HP were around $800.

EDIT: oh i looked up the Acer Aspire 5610. it sucks, and frankly i hate acers; their notebooks are pretty unreliable and frequently have problems. hp notebooks seem higher quality, are more attractive, have an infinitely better keyboard and touchpad than almost anything else on the market, and are certainly sturdier.

4g ddr3
1g vidya card (geforce 240m)
2.2ghz cpu
320gb hd
15.6" screen
windows 7 64bit

so i guess we obtained the same deal. although i don't like hp very much and the acer laptop looks cooler imho with the chicklet keys and unless your laptop has amazing low-end sound i doubt the sound is better.

i'm pretty confident i could throw the 5739g at a wall and it'd probably go through the drywall and come out unscratched, so im not sure yours is sturdier than mine, although i don't doubt yours is well made.
