Guys makes short video for $300, gets $30 Mil contract out of it

An unknown producer from Uruguay, Fede Alvarez, shelled out about $300 to create a cool video of a robot invasion in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. The four-minute short, "Ataque de Panico!" (Panic Attack) features ginormous (but slow-moving) weapon-wielding robots that blow stuff up.

Well, apparently nothing gets by Hollywood these days. The lucky duck told the BBC, "I uploaded 'Ataque de Panico!' on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of emails from Hollywood studios." Long story short, a bidding war ensued. The offer he pocketed: A $30 million deal with Sam "Spiderman" Raimi's Ghost House Pictures. That's a nice return on investment.

I have to admit the production quality is out the ass amazing! I am very impressed.

This dude is a budgeting genius if he made that for $300.
It looks incredible, especially the special effects.

while i may be impressed with the video because its good for 300 bucks, why the hell has anyone bought it?

what exactly have they bought? the right to make it into a hollywood blockbuster? which is essentially $30 million for Uruguay does War of the Worlds.

They cant have bought the guys cost effectiveness

For being in Uruguay, that's expensive. Like he put a million dollars into it. Comes out to 5926 pesos. Pretty good short film.

They didn't buy anything, they gave him a 30 million dollar contract. As in 30 million dollars to work for them. I guess they're expecting to pay him 30 mil, then have him shit out an awesome movie for 50 bucks.

Yeah I talked to a friend tonight who is a NERD and he told me they put him on a $30 mil contract to make good films for them

he aint never gonna fullfil those contractual obligations

deal aint worth shit
