I'm pretty sure there is nothing more fun than karaoke. I tried ecstasy once but it didn't live up.

Anyway, I've finally found a friend who also understands this so my karaoke nights are becoming a much more regular thing.

People get scared of karaoke because they don't want to be exposed as a bad singer in public but what these people misunderstand is that karaoke isn't for good singers. I've seen plenty of people sing karaoke pitch-perfect and they've bombed. You don't have to sing well, you just have to sell it. This is your chance to be a fuckin' rockstar. People appreciate that.

Here are my current 'jams':

Duets

Beastie Boys - (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)

Bryan Adams ft. Mel C - When You're Gone

Bon Jovi - Wanted (Dead or Alive)

Solo

Toto - Africa

(the karaoke machine got the lyrics wrong for this one, they put "I guess it rains down in Africa" when the actual lyric is "I bless the rains down in Africa" but, to be fair, it was a dodgy karaoke bar in Chinatown run by Triads so, you know, can't expect perfection)

Poison - Every Rose Has Its Thorn

I feel I should add that, with the exception of the Beastie Boys, these are all songs I would rarely choose to listen to but, as it is, they're kickass karaoke tunes.

So, people of CD, what are your views on karaoke? And, most importantly, what are your favourite karaoke songs?
