    Default Finding new music?

How do you guys find new music to listen to? New doesn't mean it has to be 2009 just something new to me that I like.

i go by word of mouth with friend's whose taste in music (or specific genre) that I respect, and go with their suggestions

any time i see a band name i usually check them out to see what kind of music they make, and check out a song or two on youtube

music forums, last.fm is nice too

also, what kind of music do you like?

If you haven't visited Pandora.com, you should. Once you've tried it, it becomes obvious why it's great.

I also find new music through MTV, VH1, and Fuse. I've discovered bands such as Vampire Weekend and Billy Talent on those channels.

Now defunct Res Magazine was my favorite resource, though. I suppose other music magazines can useful in finding new music, but what was great about Res was that, for subscribers, it included a dvd filled with a variety of new music.

I generally branch out from the current bands I know or check out other bands in my favorite genres.

I rediscovered shoutcasts. They will work with my crummy connection speed.

thesixtyone.com has some strange music on it. if you like indie rock/pop and don't mind wading through some incredibly bad amateurish music, there is some serious fucking gold in it

The only good radio station we have that doesn't play classic rock doesn't branch out much. I used to find stuff on XM that I'd like but I didn't keep XM long. With all these suggestions and the shoutcasts I should be able to find what I'm looking for.

I've found a lot of stuff surfing Youtube. I start with something I already like, and then just check out the related videos, and then the related videos of that one and on down the line.

Start scrobbling your music and they'll give you suggestions.

I go on a hip-hop forum so I've got a lotta knowledge on artists from '88 to the present just from lurking there.. found a lotta gems that I probably wouldn't of even listened to if it werent for the internet.. try a forum with your genre of choice.

I'll just hear something on XM, make a note, then check it out online.

last.fm knows what I listen to and they recommend new stuff based on that. It's pretty reliable, but I've also been scrobbling since 2006.
