    Default Portishead

I just got the album 'Dummy' and it's awesome. I was meaning to check them out for a while, just got around to it today. Anyone else listen to 'trip-hop'? Any recommendations based on this album?

I do like a bit of trip-hop, but my mind blanked the second I entered this thread for some reason. I really liked Portishead the first time I heard them, but then I started to like them less and less as time went on.

Hey guys I just heard this new band. They're called the Beatles. I think they're gonna be big...

I am disappointed this thread is not about the mediocre town in Bristol.

Zero 7 is fantastic, my favorite of the genre with no one else even being close to being second

Yea, because portishead is talked about in society as much as the beatles are.. i've heard of them, but never heard any of their music until today.

Well, babar, I'm proud that you didn't make another thread about rap.

I like Portishead. Try using pandora.com for finding similar music (duh)

    Massive Attack is good.

Maybe some Tricky too. Roots Manuva also has some good stuff which blends trip hop with underground UK hip hop.

Good call on Massive Attack, I always forget about them.

That's true, but this thread became all about Trip-hop and not about Portishead and I'd say TVOTR are related to the trip-hop genre.

That is fair, but I'd say TVOTR and Trip-hop are like cousins who could kiss and grandma wouldn't like it but it would technically be ok

Massive Attack, Tricky, Stervhia, The Silk Demise

Then you have Air and Zero 7 who veer off onto one side of trip hop, and artists like DJ Shadow and DJ Krush who are on the other side
