Andrew Bird [videos!]

I have always been a fan of Andrew Bird since hearing his 2003 album "Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs". Unfortunately, I had never gotten the chance to see him live, nor had I watched any live performances of his... until last night.

Andrew performed 5 songs for Pitchfork TV recently, and the videos absolutely blew my mind. He is playing by himself - with violin, guitar, a loop pedal, and of course his incredible voice and whistling skills.

After seeing these, Andrew Bird is now atop my list of "must see in concert before I die" acts, and these two songs in particular might be the most impressive musical performance I've ever seen.

A record label around here, Fat Possum, puts out his stuff. They've put out fantastic stuff in the past (R. L. Burnside, Heartless Bastards, Wavves, and The Black Keys), so I might just have to check him out.

These guys (and girl) are fantastic. They're kind of from my area (Dayton/Cincinnati) and got a chance to see them live earlier this year. I saw an article earlier today and The Mountain was on NPR's top 30 albums of 2009.

I wiki'd them at work today and am getting their new album when I have the money (I don't really like pirating, but that is neither here nor there).

It has gotten fantastic reviews in most every magazine.

Also, I love Andrew Bird. What turned me on to him was Armchair Apocraphyal, and everything before/after that was just graavy.
