    Default Phish

Don't listen to much of them simply because I don't have any. Any suggestions on a few good albums? I prefer studio for now, but eventually end up preferring live music.

    Thanks

Really? Only one person here likes Phish? No one here like them?

I've never listened to them before.

    ok, back from youtube.

Phish isn't necessarily bad and I can understand why some people like them. However, I really couldn't stand even listening to a complete song (and I listened to the beginning of 4 or 5 songs). I just didn't enjoy it.

Fair enough. I hoped to have a more active conversation with actual fans of the band, but I'm surprised to find that no one here is really into them.

Well there's only like 12 people max who really use this forum a lot. I reckon if I walked into a bar at about 3pm and asked the 12 random strangers in there if they like Phish then most of them would say yes but they'd probably mean seafood because none of them would have even heard of the post-grateful dead goofy hippy jam band that call themselves Phish.

I'm just surprised because they have the biggest, dare I say cult following, since the Grateful Dead.

Well how old are you? I'm guessing like mid-thirties.

The only people I know who like Phish are hippies and their hippie children.

(Also, I've never intentionally listened to the Grateful Dead)

I'm 22. I'm not a hippie at all. I used to be an emo punk kid back in my youth. I'm just getting into Phish currently, and I don't listen to the greatful dead.

Are your parents hippies? I mean, how'd you get into Phish?

HAHA. I laughed out loud at work at this. One does not need to be a hippy to listen to music. It's not like I follow them from city to city and go to their shows tripping on LSD or taking shrooms. I just like music and appreciate how they can make complex music sound simple.

True story - one of my sophomore year psychology lecture halls (~300 people) was taught by a ~30-35 year old guy with a beard that told us on the first day of class that he just finished following Phish around on tour for a couple of years, he was like a roadie or superfan or something and went to all of their shows for a couple of years before getting into the world of academia. He was an interesting fellow.

I like Phish all right, I've got a bunch of their live shows downloaded but if I'm in that funk mood I usually put on some older stuff like George Clinton or Parliament.

THANK YOU! This was the kind of post I was looking for! I will have to check out both of these groups, thanks RS.

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic (aka P-Funk Allstars) usually play together live these days. If you ever have the chance to see them live they put on a heck of a live show, so much energy especially since you know they've been doing "Flashlight" every day for decades and still make it sound like they enjoy playing it.

If listening to phish makes you a hippy, what would you classify someone who regularly posts on this site?
