I think the simplest answer may be the correct one:

Extended exposure (leaving the shutter open) on his camera. When an object passes through it while the lens is open you can get that sort of ghosting effect.

Any decent digital camera will have an exposure effect, quality is no guarantee though.

That looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.

    Pretty simple.

Long shutter release, like 10 seconds.

Press the button, let it go for about 6 seconds, then jump in front of it, and stand there until it stops.

You'd probably rather have a flash than stand in the same place for 4 seconds.

Unless you want a blurry picture.

ok i'm not that good at shooping but it seems like a fairly simple shoop

take an image (the room) then superimpose another image (the ghost-looking douchebag) at a high level of transparency

i don't think you can do that with just exposure because there'd be like a ghost trail of him getting into position

I've done it fairly well with just exposure, if the lighting is right and you move quickly enough theres not enough trail for it to be visible.

But yes the best way is with a remote flash in a completely dark room. Long exposure, flash the room, get in position, flash it again.
