Spades is fun. I don't think I've played since college, but it's a good game.

Me and my buddy used to own at Spades. We had some kind of ESP together and I have successfully pulled of several blind nil and some with Aces in my hand with him. And we played where you couldn't throw off.

that's kinda the rule in spades... if you have the suit you must play THAT suit...

You're right but, some people play that when you run out of a suit you can play ANY suit. We played where you must play a spade unless you didn't have one of those. Trust me, it's a lot more complicated that way.

Maybe one day we can get an online game going.

Ah, I've played with those rules before, but I prefer the 'throw off any suit if you don't have it" because it sucks when you cut your partner's head off.

This is kind of confusing. If your partner lays down a heart anywhere high or low and you don't have a heart, but you have a spade you have to play that spade? wtf

Some rules would force me to play a 2(or any rank) of spades even if my partner threw an Ace of Hearts, if I didn't have any hearts.

I hate those rules.

Right. That's the way we played it. You can imagine my surprise when I learned that wasn't how EVERYONE played. Much easier when you can throw off. I prefer that you have to play a spade. It makes for more intense game. We also didn't count off on bags but I prefer to play where bags count against.
