Can you please point to the chapter and verse where God told Moses about the importance of marital tax benefits, estate law, power of attorney, or insurance and credit benefits? All of those are purely legal aspects of marriage, utterly independent of any religious institution which may sanctify marriage.
And more to the point, VS specifically acknowledged some of those very significant non-religious impacts of marriage in the very sentence that he claimed that he didn't believe in it because he is an atheist.
It's not like he said something meaningful, like rejecting lifelong commitment... He just dismissed it in the face if the purely secular benefits, which is asinine.
