Cool What to do in Florida?

I'll be in Florida for a little over a week in Niceville. I'll be driving down there and staying with the girlfriend's grandparents. We'll definitely be going to the beach, soaking up the sun, and swimming in the ocean (though probably not Niceville because of the forecast). Daytona, Orlando, Miami, and Panama City all sound like some great places to go. I'll probably go to a bar and nice restaraunt once or twice. Mostly will be cooking or eating as cheaply as possible while we are there. I plan on going to check out an abandoned air force base to take some photos and learning some cool things about aviation.

I want to spend no more than $200. The girlfriend will probably chip in because she's a really freaking cool chick like that. What are some of the more interesting sights, tourist spots, and cool things to do for a good cost-effective fun spring break?

I think one thing I have in mind that I can't recall exactly is that guy who built a castle out of crystal by himself or something. Things like that I find cool and would want to go and take photos.

There is a cool abandoned military fort in the Pensacola area. It's called fort pickens. It's a pretty legit place..

My grandparents lived in Pensacola, and whenever I visited I always went to the naval museum and other related military sites. Because my grandfather was a captain in the Navy.

I'm still sad I never got to sit down with him and ask him about his military career, he was in the Pacific during WWII
