Mystery Online Friends vs Real Life Friends

Which is better and why? Sometimes I feel like you guys know me better than some people I know in real life. It's like I can talk to you guys and you understand and don't automatically think I am weird for something I said/ did. Plus some of my coworkers/ people I know don't approve of lesbians/ think lesbians are gross so they don't seem the type of people I could talk about girl advice/problems and get the response I was looking for. Plus people in real life might think I'm gross/ a freak. Sometimes you guys give really good, helpful advice. Also I've known some of you guys for longer, such as some of my coworkers because of job changes. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I knew you guys in real life and knew real people as online instead of the other way around.i

You don't want to know us in real life, haha. But to answer your question, what you see me or someone say online has the benefit of us thinking about what to say, and editing it afterwards maybe. In real life that doesn't happen and you get a lot more awkward moments. It's kind of like how you can't compare your life to those of your facebook friends - you are comparing your everyday ups and downs to everyone else's "highlight reel"

Maybe part of it is wanting what is hard to have. Like most people are far away so it would be less likely we'd hang out. But yeah it is a good idea to meet people you meet online in a public place. You have a point though texting someone often seems different than talking to the same person in person. Good point.

I prefer my internet friends. It's just easier here. I can't fuck your wives.

I've found that with internet friends, you can take more time to know each other without any kind of personal judgment. You can take the time to think about everything that is being said, slow the conversation, and learn about each other on a personal level. I've talked to several internet friends outside of the dubya dubya dubyas, and it seems to carry over. Irl, it's a lot harder to develop a strong, personal relationship imo. I've also been drinking, so I dunno.
