I was pondering getting a computer with 11.75TB of hard drive space.

I decided not too...since it would have been $11,000+
I hear the voices inside my head. They counsel me. They understand. They talk to me.

    1.5TB Seagate = $130
    8 SATA ports on mobo
    12 TB for $1040 + computer cost?

Its not hard to build a PC, and yeah, you won't need 12gb of ram for a good few years.

I bet if you built it you could do it for 3 grand.
    i7 956 - $1030
ASUS Rampage II Extreme - $400
    4870 x2 - $500 x 2 = $1000
    Intel X25-M SSD - $540
    G.Skill 2GBx3 ram kit - $170

    Subtotal - $3140

Still need PSU, Case, 2 1TB hard drives, misc - I'd say $1k more for nicer stuff.
    Another $1k to watercool everything.

    Shit that's expensive.
