The point is drug use changes your perception and priorities, and to say or imply that it's better to be on drugs is pretty stupid.

I was saying he should try it before he knocks it, and that only happens if you become a pothead and smoke all the time. Most people I know just smoke once in a while. I wasn't telling him to become a stoner.
