Of course, there is always someone that will trump you, but that's the defeatist way out. By assuming you aren't good at anything is very depressing.

some may recognize their abilities, but not want to dwell on them or brag about it.
the irony about most people is that while they hold themselves in too high esteem, they also are reticent to talk about their own strenghts.
Yeah it's common. The ability to stand back and recognize a certain aspect about yourself that you think you excel at isn't bragging nor is it show-offish, but rather a good gauge that you also accept you are weaker in other areas.
