It kind of is. If you own a Sidekick, they force you into having a Sidekick "plan". There is no option.

I did own a sidekick and no one forced me to buy it. I bought it knowing that getting one and using it on tmobiles network would force me to get an unlimited data plan with it. You know about the plan before you buy it so if you don't like it then don't get one.

When I purchased my Sidekick, the guy told me you can change your plan at any time if you wanted to. So I figured I'd pick the extra Sidekick data plan with it and if I didn't use the features enough I'd change it. Well, lo' and behold you can change your [I]main[/I plan] all you like, but you're stuck with a Sidekick data plan for as long as you have a Sidekick.
