Eek, your first date at 22? I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are gonna be at a huge disadvantage. This chick is used to guys who are seasoned veterans by now.
Hints for the inexperienced:
-Don't do the movie date until at the very earliest the third date. It is awkward when you don't know them that well and barriers haven't been stabilized. Plus you can't talk much in movies and the first few dates are all about selling yourself.
-Dates are about selling yourself, lol. Use good posture, smell good, look nice, and exude confidence. Take compliments quickly as if you are used to them, and don't be afraid to talk about yourself. Of course the question technique is also gold, but don't overdo it.
-This is an obvious one, but in case you don't know stay away from controversial subjects. No politics, no religion, steer away from any discussion of the future beyond what you intend to do with your life if you can avoid it.
-Be complimentary, but don't overdo it. Be creative, not just, 'you look pretty tonight'. Use compliments as a way to show off your vocabulary and put your own unique spin on them.
-Whenever she laughs look into her eyes. She'll look you back in the eyes and by the end of the night should be subconsciously associating you with the sensation.
Example good first date:
-Start off with something competitive. Competition brings people close together. Bowling, mini-golf, tennis if you're adventurous, pool, something like that. It is an opportunity to be playful early, which will make her more comfortable for later. Avoid letting her win if you can so you can hold it over her, but in a playful way, not a douchey way (it is a fine line).
-Then do dinner, someplace not too dimly lit so you can see each other. Talk about whatever, avoiding touchy things and staying playful.
-After that a walk is a great idea. A walk is a great thing to do before taking her home because you can use her body language here to see what she's thinking, and it can be as long or as short as the situation requires.
Just a few hints from me. I have a pretty good track record once I get to the date part. Getting to the date part is my trouble spot.
