Valentine's Day ideas
No Valentine's day thread on page 1?
I'm kind of stuck, I've found myself in a relationship that I'm not entirely sold on. We just started dating like 2 weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure the relationship won't last another month. We don't even talk every day. Oh well, I still don't want to look like an ass so I guess I should get her something. Flowers & chocolate cliche is probably what I will do, along with a brunch treat, since she has to work at 4.
What are you guys/gals doing for V-Day?
I'd say 'pity reply' but clearly we're all lonely losers and have nothing to say on the subject so really we're more deserving of the pity...
I'm gonna throw dead roses at restaurant windows and cry.
I'm taking the girl I met here at my college down to the beach where I live for the weekend. We're going to spend the day together on Saturday and then go out to dinner. Then I'm taking her to this spot that only a handful of people know about on the beach at night. There are no lights for miles near this area so you can see all the stars in the sky. When you look north you can see the entire curve of the long bay on the coast of South Carolina. Then we're having an oyster roast with my parents on Sunday and we're going back up to our school later that day.
According to the woman, we're going to go watch Coraline. I wanted to see Paul Blart: Mall Cop...but I settled for Coraline. She originally wanted to see He's Just Not That Into You.
Then we're either going to go either Charlie Brown's or Bennigan's for dinner after the movie. All the while, her parents will be setting up about six dozen roses(because it's close to six months) on her desk for me with a present which happens to be an 18k gold necklace with three 1/4 carat diamonds.
She better enjoy it.

No, I'm actually being serious. The fact that you're spending that much money on someone who you've only been with for six months is ridiculous. Those are all nice things you're giving her but the necklace is overkill man. What are you going to do for your anniversary? The one after that? You realize that by doing this for your SIX MONTH anniversary you're setting a huuuuuge standard to make your one year even bigger? I mean if you feel like the only way you can express yourself is through gifts then that's great if you have the money for it. I just don't believe in the whole buying love idea. Gifts are nice but too much is too much.
Valentines day will not be like any other day. Except I may leave my roofie victim with a rose.

I just think that it's pathetic that he's going to be giving her that bling at Benningan's or any one of those crappy "Lucky-Charms Fried Chicken" "American cuisine" "restaurant" chains.

A $30 restaurant tab, $20 of movie tickets, potentially ~$300 in floral arrangements (I pay $54 and change for a half dozen arrangement when I'm feeling extra guilty so I'm approximating here), or at least $50 in lone roses, and a necklace in the $150-$250 range. And you're involving her parents.

Oh I'll be spending no more than $50 on movie, dinner (fagsy picnic style), and condoms. I already got her season four of some tv show she really likes but she was too impatient to wait for valentine's day so I just said fuck it and told her it was her valentine's day present.
