A national poll indicates that two out of three Americans approve of the way Barack Obama is handling his job as president of the United States.
A poll shows approval of President Obama slipping, but most of the loss of support is among Republicans.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey, released Friday, also suggests that six in 10 support the economic stimulus package that Obama signed into law Tuesday.

Obama's approval rating stands at 67 percent in the new poll. That's down 9 percentage points from the most recent CNN poll, which was conducted in early February. But a breakdown by party suggests that the drop doesn't mean that the new president is in serious trouble.

Here we are, with our first African-American president, who's only been in office a month now, and they are already making a big deal of his approval rating? Yes Obama did promise change, but change can't happen immediately. If anything, the amount of debate over the stimulus bill shows the amount of divide and hypocrisy amongst the American public. I overheard a conversation between my father and grandmother about his inauguration and why people would spend money to go see it when they don't have a job or anything. Well, I assume that most people wanted to view the inauguration ceremony first hand, because it is going to go down as one of the most historical inaugurations in history, why? Because Barack Obama is the first elected African American president. Yes he may end up being no better than Bush or any other previous presidents, but he'll end up being one of the most remembered presidents of our country, for the pure fact he was the first elected African American.

It's historical, and he has a lot on his plate to deal with, and the criticism from the American Public over how he is handling things just goes to show how much racism and negativity there is in the country towards people that aren't of Caucasian descent. I admit I am a hypocrite at times and think racist thoughts, but in the end, everybody is the same, just not in appearance or in actions. We all breathe the same air, drink the same water, and all share this planet, and I can't get my head around people who don't understand that fact.
