Default Small things make a difference

At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day, while 75 million children worldwide are not in school. By pooling surprisingly small investments, we can help to significantly improve educational access and economic development. It’s called The Small Things Challenge, and partnering with Kiva and Save the Children, it’s a campaign based on the premise that every small action can make a big difference to ensure quality education and economic opportunity for all. We challenge you to join us in becoming a part of the solution. When you click on the link below, Intel will donate 25¢ per click for you to help.
I saw this posted on another forum I visit and figured that the more people who know about it, the more good it can do.

Just click the link, every little bit helps!

I'm ashamed of myself that I don't donate to a charity regularly, not even a small amount.

It's true that a dollar goes a lot farther in many other countries than it does here. I'm going to change this.

$10 a day isn't that bad when the cost of living is extremely low in poorer countries.

    People usually forget this.

I think the point was more that if families can live on $10 a day in these countries, then relatively small amounts of money donated by us can make a difference.

If you own a house and live in it, you're better off than 95% of the world's population.

I donate to the fraternal order of the police so I can get a support sticker and support card and put the sticker on my car and the card under my driver's license in my wallet.

I've never gotten a speeding ticket. I'm not saying the two things are related, but they could be, so I'm sticking with it.

This is not an altruistic charitable donation.

No, but it definitely sounds like the sort of "charitable contribution" a Republikkkan would make.

I'm not a republican damn it

and don't knock the Fraternal Order of the Police, they are a legitimate charity. They help the families of officers who died in action.

i'm sorry, but you cannot have supported bush and not be a republican.

i mean there's being a conservative who's not a republican, there's being a republican who didn't support bush, and then there's people that supported bush. the people in the last category are ALL republicans.

The media demonized Bush more than he deserved, that is all I was saying. I try to be an equalizing voice whenever I see a situation that unfairly isn't being handled equivocally, and the more vehement the media got the more vehement I had to get to equalize them. I think his social policy was awful and that he handled the war wrong, but he didn't ruin America forever like people like to think, and he isn't significantly responsible for half as many things as people blamed him for.

I got negarepped and called a duck in this thread. This is an outrage.

Ok, if you want to label me a pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control, pro-separation of church and state, pro-alternative fuel, pro-environmentalism, anti-preemptive strike republican then feel free to refer to me as one of those.

I mean i can live on $10 a day not counting rent.

$5 on weed, pass by my moms and raid the fridge, and maybe get something to eat again later.

I know that I can live on under $10 a day (not counting rent and utilities). I once lived off of $200 for 6 weeks. "Yay for buying in bulk," is what I have to say about that

    I usually am broke.

    For weeks on end.

Then I sell some drugs and get high, and the cycle restarts.

But when I was working I donated 1-5% of my paycheck to ADA(D=diabetic)

    I am, too.

What I want to do is make lots and lots of money, become enormously rich, and really show those fuckers in Hollywood how charity is done.

I wonder if opening a bunch of tabs for that clickable link on Intel's donate page all count as individual 25 cent donations... I hope they do, or else I just wasted about 100 clicks.

I have lived on far less than $10 a day in the past. However, that does not include rent/mortgage, utilities and other bills, which add up to far more than $10 per day. There are times where I will make a point to see how little I can spend on food. A 50-cent box of spaghetti makes two meals, a $1 loaf of bread with cheap peanut butter makes numerous meals.

As for charity, I donate to a different one each year through the Combined Federal Campaign. Not too much, but I think I am currently giving $10 or $20 per month. As bills are paid off and I receive pay increases, I gradually step up my contributions. Most people will only donate $1 per month, but even that adds up considering nearly every federal employee and service member donates.
