I'm not sure how many of you read Perez Hilton's blog about celebrity gossip, I admit I am a faggot and do read it. I think I just find it hilarious on how he goes on childish tirades to tarnish any given star's image. You can't really say Britney or Lindsay trashed their image by themselves, Perez helped quite a bit.

Being one of the most popular celebrity gossiping sites on the internet, he can wield a lot of influence, and his latest tirade: Miss California's answer to a question Perez asked her, the question? I can't remember the exact wording of what he asked her, but it was about marriage, whether she was for or against gay marriage. Her answer? "I was raised to believe that marriage is between one man and one woman, and I hold that belief" or along those lines. I personally don't agree with her opinion, but on the same level, I do not hold it against her. She's perfectly entitled to her opinion.

Perez, knowing that not everybody is for marriage, should have braced himself that he could potentially hear something he wasn't for, and he did, and he went on a childish spree. Now the entertainment industry is up in arms against Miss California, and even though I don't agree with her, I think she is being unfairly crucified for stating her opinion. She asked the question honestly, and has very good etiquette in my opinion for being in her position.

This entire thing has blown out of proportion, and even the even organizers are stupid enough to speak out against her, for example, this from one of the executive directors:

As co-executive director of Miss CA USA and one of the leaders of the Miss CA family, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss CA USA 2009 believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman. Although I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit, I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone. Religious beliefs have no place in politics in the Miss CA family.
Well you know that is all fine and dandy, but the asshole fails to realize she was answered a question, and she answered it fair and square. I refuse to crucify her for what she has said, it's her opinion, and that is fine. I don't agree with it, but I also don't agree she should be crucified for it.

You can also argue that Perez is also using his freedom of speech, but doing it in a childish manner, and in this entire mess, I think Miss California is very proper for a pageant winner. I'd definitely vote for her, she stays true to herself. That's what matters in my opinion.

I don't want to turn this into an argument over gay marriage or freedom of speech, I am just annoyed at the level of controversy that has spilled out over such a stupid thing.
