Thread: Who wants a beer?

Well, the drinking might be consuming me just a little. I haven't drank anything since Saturday and am really wanting a cold one now. I figured it was time to cut down just a little since the habit was getting so expensive, not to mention the health effects. Last Tuesday I got a twelve pack of Bud Light. My neighbor got a deal on cases of Keystone 16-ounce cans for $11.99 and brought a case over on Wednesday. Friday night came and I had three of those left, so Saturday it was time for a twelve pack of Miller. Of course, all it takes is a song, or a TV show like Burn Notice with Bruce Campbell asking the magic question.

Anyway, go figure that events yesterday and today have tested my ability to drink lemonade and iced tea alone. That, and staying up half the night Sunday from caffeine is much worse than waking up Monday with cotton mouth. Long story short, I'll be back in a bit. Time for a


And next week, I'll be requesting an extending TDY to go to Fort Polk for ADAPC.

I have similar experiences, but with marijuana. I've never gotten an urge to drink outside of the "yeahhh lets get fucked up" teen mentality, but I occasionally find myself actually yearning to be stoned and having to fight that feeling for monetary and productivity reasons.

Oh yeah, and bruce campbell is the only part of burn notice I don't hate. :P

I don't want a beer, but that's because I have a Pacifico in my hand right now, so I'm pretty content.

They used to play this song on Bob & Tom all the time about 7-8 years ago.

Just went to do some very basic shopping. I was wandering around the beer aisle when I accidentally knocked over a box. Stooping down to pick it up I realized it was a Chimay gift set like this one but with a clear glass. Knowing that I have never tried Chimay I was curious, but realizing I never tried it because I rarely want to pay $5+ for a beer outside of a bar, I went to put it back when I noticed the boxes looked like they had some water damage. Anyway, each of the three gift sets had a $3.99 price tag on it. So, for $12 I now have three bottles each of Chimay red, white and blue labels as well as pretty goblets to drink them out of. Best of all, I can add three more beers to the already large collection of beers I have tasted.

Have fun in Leesville. The base isnt too bad, but the surrounding town is a cesspool.

I was joking about Fort Polk. I'll probably never have to go there besides JRTC and occasionally for medical reasons while I'm down here.

I enjoy a good Guinness every now and again, but to get drunk I like to drink Blue Moon.

And if I'm poor and having to go for the cheap beer I opt for PBR or Keystone.

Oh... and Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy is disgusting. It tastes like bile.

Bombay Sapphire + 2l bottle of lemonade = sorted.

I don't mind them. There's much better lagers out there, but they're nice on the beach.

I've come back from university in the last week and surprisingly I haven't been craving alcohol at all. I could do with a couple of weeks off just to recoup a bit and excercise some willpower.

I've found that since I turned 21, I have drank at every possible opportunity, although that may also be because I am on vacation.

By the time I turned 18 drinking seemed a bit passée. Then again, I'd been drinking in clubs for about 2 years already so the novelty had worn off. Plus I didn't actually have any form of ID till I was closer to being 19 so my options for nights out didn't change too much.

Off the top of my head? Tecate, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Modelo, Sol and Carta Blanca are all mexican brews. I'm sure there's more, but that's what I can think of right now.

Also, Corona > Sol (which is the only beer off that list I've had)
