I set my BBS back up.

It's nowhere near complete, but I want you buttes to have first crack at it.

I know how you young whippersnappers love your images, so I created a small image tutorial on how to connect to this "BBS" thing.


First, I suggest you download SyncTERM, and install it. It's fairly straightforward. just leave anything checked checked. For geeks, this will replace your default windows telnet in IE7, but this is a good thing.

Next, Click Start -> All Programs -> SyncTERM
and then click on SyncTERM

You'll get a screen like this:

Each of those are actual BBSes on the Internet! Mine isn't listed ( ) so we'll need to add it.

To add War Ensemble BBS, you push the "INSERT" key on your keyboard. a little window will pop up, and you'll type in: "!War Ensemble BBS" like this:


The ! will keep the BBS near the top, as they're listed in alphabetical order.

Hit your ENTER key, and then select "Telnet" and hit ENTER



another little window will pop up, and you'll type in the address, which in this case is: warensemble.com



Hit ENTER, and you'll be returned to the selection screen with your list of BBSes to "dial"! Select "!War Ensemble BBS" and hit ENTER!



Then, with any luck, you'll connect to the BBS!



At this point, if you're a new user (You're a new user, trust me), you'll type in "New" at the login prompt (without the quotes, retards)

Then follow the instructions!

When it asks you what kind of shell you'd like to use, I suggest you pick option #1 Synchronet Classic

The DOS shell will confuse the fuck out of most people, because they don't know DOS.

Yes, you now have a [email protected] email address and there is a limited spam filter on it.

Ok honestly I still couldn't be fucked logging into your BBS.

But I thought about it for a minute and got a little teary-eyed nostalgia going on.

My next thought after that was about X-Wing. Which made me think of Tie Fighter, which made me think of Freespace 2, then Shogun Total War, then Rome Total war etc etc I think you know where this is going.
