Default So I've been listening to these two big dance-ish bands recently

Pendulum (who everyone says are drum & bass, but aren't) and Justice (not quite sure what genre they'd be in... electroclash maybe?)... anyway, some people I know have been raving about them a bit so I figured I'd give them a listen and, um, is it just me or do they sound like a less good The Prodigy and Daft Punk respectively? I can't really hear anything unique in their sound.

I am posting this here because no music forum so guys pretend I posted this in a music subforum and this thread doesn't look totally out of place kthx.

I really liked the earlier Pendulum stuff. Hold your Colour was a pretty good album and definitely had more of a drum n bass feel to it than In Silico, which I always felt went in too much of a rock-ish direction. It wasn't bad, but it was far from the unique sound they had earlier on.

I agree with Hydro however there still appear to be a large number of Daft Punk tryhards around.

Have you tried the Midnight Juggernauts?

I don't mind Pendulum but Prodigy and MSI are better versions of their sound.

There's way too many bands these days that seem to be electro for the sake of it. Klaxons and Enter Shikari are the main ones I can think of right now but there's loads.

I've never heard these bands play before, but you say they are big dance-ish bands, so do they play jazz and swing?

Pendulum (or at least part of it) played at a local festival that I was at recently.
I didn't go to see them, partly because I couldn't be arsed and also because what I had heard wasn't that compelling.

Also from what I heard from people who did, they weren't that great.

No, but they have those 'electro' tendencies.

Klaxons are okay, they have one awesome song but the rest of their material is poo.

I really like Justice, though I think their sound is a bit overused.

I can see why you'd liken them to the other two bands but for me I think they do a good job with the rocky and anthemic sounds.

    Pendulum are fairly average.
