Yeah here is what happens when america plays america

we save the world from germany twice, liberate south korea, oppose communism in vietnam, defuse the cuban missile crisis, liberate kuwait, insure the security of israel, provide military and intelligence support to all of the other countries sitting at home judging, depose the taliban, eliminate a genocidal dictator in the powderkeg, bring saddam hussein to trial, stabilize latin america, bring capitalism to both china and russia, add vitality to an indian economy, and get all of europe fucking rich.

So seriously, fuck off. Shitty ass fucking canada wouldn't have an economy to provide you the luxury of criticism without the united states.

also, i think you're looking for the word ensure, although insurance is probably a more apt metaphor for how things run there.

I can't fault providing intelligence, although intelligence itself is a commodity, and so you're bragging about being rumour merchants. congratulations?

good job on deposing the taliban (cutting the head off the hydra) and then walking the fuck away for 8 years while other countries (canada, basically - none of the other UN countries who promised support showed up) kept the peace in the area instead of it turning into a hotbed of terrorism again when a new leadership with no reason not to share the ideals of the taliban takes control of afghanistan again. you really did a great job there.

I guess you led by example (i.e moon landings as a feat of technological example), but you didn't bring it by convincing them to not be the communists you hate, you did it by showing it's more beneficial to enrich yourself at the expense of others around you. i'm not even going into the issue that is capitalism and why it's inherently flawed.

i'm not denying that it's beneficial being neighbours with a superpower, but you're bragging about the wrong things for the wrong reasons. your resume is so full of holes it's a little embarassing, but you keep on bragging about these things as though they were picture perfect. seriously, fuck america and it's sense of self-importance (unwarranted), it's feeling of accomplishment for a mediocre job completed and this continued bragadoccio in the twilight years of its empire.

so quit swinging your massive, herpes ridden nation-dick around and put it back in your pants until it's clean enough to touch something other than a diseased whore.

The fact that you didn't have to respond to my post in german is the exact reason you can fuck off I stopped reading after that.

Actually I didn't. You clearly know nothing about political science if you believe a global body can play police force issues of power and sovereignty abound ho hum polisci 101 UN failure etc etc

fair enough, although world police is a bit of a catchword that doesn't accurately describe what's going on. The US's intervention in Kuwait wasn't necessary - ideally, the task should've fallen to the UN, which would have given it credibility and actually made the body be more effective. Actually, a lot of america's invasions along these lines would've done the world better good had they been done through the UN. Theoretically speaking, a global body attached to no nation in particular that maintains peace and steps on overreaching national hands (which applies equally to iraq in kuwait, but also america in vietnam) would do the world a lot of good, and building the UN into something along those lines (which is, i think, what it sees itself as idealistically) and then actually giving it the name and power to carry this out would be nothig but beneficial

The Persian Gulf war was not only the United States, it was a mult-national defense of over 25 countries (a move, I believe, that went through NATO) that moved in after the UN, sadly but unsurprisingly, failed to do its job.

whoops! i should actually study history instead of relying on what i remember being said year ago. my bad guys

edit: it probably doesn't work or make sense, but if the US would have invaded under the UN flag and done the job in the name of the UN, it would have been two birds with one stone, was my idea

post post script: my knowledge of middle east conflicts and the nuances involved isn't exactly in depth

    http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/missions/unikom/

The UN moved peacekeeping forces in after the Iraqi withdrawal. In fact, the UN authorized the use of force in a resolution to aid Kuwait. That resolution was signed by a number of countries.

US-led simply meant strategy and logistics fell on them, not that they were solely the ones fighting.
