Whelp, looks like we're going to war with Iran now

Like anyone is really shocked...

At talks scheduled for Thursday in Geneva with Iran, the United States and five other major powers will demand immediate and unfettered access to the newly exposed nuclear facility in Iran, including access to people and documents involved in its construction, and they will insist that Tehran abide by international rules to reveal such projects before construction begins, Obama administration officials said Saturday.

Why do I say war? Because our government obviously has known about this for years but hasn't acted on it for whatever reason. Anyone with a subscription to Wired magazine knows that it is pretty damn hard for a country to hide a nuclear enrichment operation.

So how's it going to play out? Now that we've "just discovered this" we're going to demand to have inspectors go to it, which of course will be refused, and then we'll have "no choice" but to "strategically neutralize the sites with precision weapons" which will of course escalate into another middle-eastern shitstorm.

You heard it here first, folks.

There are alternatives to war, and given that we have expensive operations in two other countries, I doubt that we're going to take on a third war now.

Not only that, but Americans are pretty war-weary right now.

On the other hand, compliance with UN nuclear inspectors didn't prevent Iraq from being invaded.

then you don't know how to pronounce the president of iran's name correctly.

all the h's in "mah" and "ah" are actually suppose to be pronounced as though you're scraping flem up from the back of your throat.

and the "a" before "deen" is actually like a short e, i think sorta close to a schwa

and finally, it's "deena," not "deener."

i mean how the hell do you get an "er" sound when there's no "r" in the transliteration of his name into roman characters?

There are a lot of moral arguments, but that doesn't mean anyone has to agree with them. The US is the sole superpower in the world and arguably uses its influence for personal gain at the expense of other countries and then encourages the punishment of nations who harm US interests. It is a concept straight out of the age of imperialism, and completely ruins America's image as the underdog.

It's more about how people function together, carried onto the nations being entities of sorts. If you bully kids, eventually one or a few of them are going to get you back for being an asshole, with the degree of revenge being based on how the initial victim feels about the abuse in question. It's better for long term sustainability to work with other people to ensure long-term relationships that operate well. Being a dick simply because you can for the time being will get you the short term gains, scads of them, but at what cost?

of course they won't work with you now - guess why that is?

america needs to work on it's pr oh and what it actually does in and with other countries. it operates like a sociopath in the world and doesn't realize the consequences of being an asshole, or doesn't care, both of which lead to the same conclusion in the end
