My mind is blown - 98.6 is not the normal body temperature

and it explains how the ACTUAL normal body temp is 98.2, NOT 98.6.
Long story short, the 98.6 stuff came from a nearly 150 year old study of limited sample size plus an error factor due to the conversions between centigrade and fahrenheit. Some more modern research is suggesting 98.2 is the "normal" temperature, but realizes that what is "normal" for one person may be different from another.

This is good news to hear, as my usual body resting body temp is around 95.6-96.0 and when I go in for check-ups they often think their equipment is messed up. A temperature of 99 is a pretty good fever for me.

ps yah actually my body temperature has always been slightly below 98.6 degrees so this explains it i suppose but i mean as you said

My natural body temp is about 100.0 on average. It goes to show how wide the spectrum really is.
I used to take advantage of this in elementary school/middle school, whenever I didn't want to be there I'd go to the nurse and she'd think I had a fever and send me home.

You're going to tell me that you sustained a body temperature of 100 degrees for years?

I guess it's called an average for a reason, but damn that just seems like your blood could not take that for years.

Actually when I was younger it was something like 100.5, and only recently (the last 7 years or so) has cooled off a bit. It's really only about 2 degrees of a difference then what for years has been considered "normal," and look at that other guy who said his temperature was 2-3 degrees lower then normal.

The blood isn't the issue, it's the organs that it would be a problem for.

Aren't blood and organs inherently linked? Naturally, I concede that it's been a while since a Biology course. Electrical Engineering doesn't really require a strong knowledge of it.

I thought heat causes blood veins to expand pushing more blood through, yadda yadda. I can admit when I don't know what I'm talking about, but that was what I thought I recalled from a class or two.
