Default A question about Deja Vu

Okay, this is going to take some explaining. And it sounds crazy.

I found out this weekend that the way I experience Deja Vu is... somewhat abnormal. Every single person I've checked with since then has driven me to the same conclusion: the way I experience it does not congeal with the rest of anyone I know.

((keep in mind, I never found out I was supposed to wet my face before shaving. I literally found out last year, during an episode of House. My development cycle is kind of messed up as I did not have a father figure since 14, and was thrust into the adult male role that my house was lacking))

    ...

Every person I've asked, when I asked them what they feel when they get Deja Vu, they tell me: It's just something I can't really put my finger on, but it's like I've lived that moment before, and I have to check with someone to make sure it isn't happening again.

Which matches that happens with me. But my mind carries it... kind of a step further.

I get Deja Vu. I'm going start calling them Moment A's, because, I don't really know how to describe it, but, I can see a series of events, that happen as a result of the Moment A. Like Deja Vu, I feel that all of these subsequent moments have, in fact, happened. And these little glimpses I get can range from a few seconds, to seeing something that happens a week later as a result of the Moment A, making the last part of the Deja Vu, something I call a Moment B.

My mind does not go into 'imagination' mode during any of this. The entire time, the hazy feeling persists that I have experienced all of this before, throughout all the events in my mind that eventually ends in the Moment B.

These... glimpses only last for a few seconds to a minute after the Moment A, but they can span, like I said, weeks. And because I've seen them, I am capable of changing them. It's like I'm staring down a definite road, one that I know will happen, but I have the capability of changing it by taking actions not specified in the Chain that leads to Moment B.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Deja vu is normal, the assumption science currently has to explain it is that while moment A happens before B, your brain screws up and writes B to your memory before it writes A.

I like that a whole lot, actually, and the implications of that are pretty wild.

But it has kind of almost nothing to do with...

Unless my mind is writing A down, and it's like, weeks from now, and is now writing everything else up to that point.

Deja Vu is an old point and click adventure game for NES.

That should answer all your questions about it.

My Deja Vu's are normal and happen with frequency.

Although, when I say normal, I am assuming mine are similar to what other people experience. Nothing like yours though. You fuckin' pre-cog.

Frequent feelings of "Deja Vu' are a sign of Attention Deficit Disorder.

My dog just farted, and then my other dog looked at him and farted back.

my experiences with deja vu had always been that I had dreamt about the situation years or months earlier like once i was in israel I had this dream that I was in a white room with high, small windows. It was the middle of the day, but cool inside and there was a low hum of a large group in quiet conversation. I dreamt that I walked down the stairs, then stopped and looked at the main door for a bit. It had caught my attention because I has never seen one before like it, made of metal with regular green wooden stubs all across its broad expanse. Before I knew what the nubs were, I stopped and thought about it.

Then I went on pilgrimmage with my dad years later and saw that same fucking door in those same circumstances and I tripped balls.

Have you ever dreamed about a place or circumstance and then months later have a dream about being in that same place under different circumstances? It's like Deja Vu inside a dream because while you're dreaming it you feel like you've experienced it before. And according to your subconcious you have. Freaking weird.

    That's really interesting to know

Sometimes when I hear a song, the first few times I hear it it will be new but after the like third time I remember hearing it weeks earlier. Like my brain needs a jumpstart or something to remember.

It's the same as whenever someone has a dream that they swear comes true. More likely, their dream was totally ambiguous, but their brain asserts itself and makes the dream into something you can understand.

in relation to that post ^
I've had difficulty telling what was a dream and what wasn't. Sometimes I will tell someone something that happened and they will tell me it didn't but I have a vivid memory of it.

i mean, i understand what you're saying, but i had dreamed of a specific location that i'd never been to before, and when I got there, i immediately recognized things i had only seen in my dream before.

i guess it's possible that some base symbolism was at work giving me a false feeling of familiarity, and god knows that human memory is just about the shoddiest thing when it comes to consistency, especially over the long term, but i will still (even mistakenly) swear that I dreamed of situations some time before actually being in them, although as I got older, this happened more and more infrequently (i haven't had any in years), and towards the end, the events of my dreams didn't play out verbatim in reality as they seemed to when i was younger.

probably has something to do with your imagination fading...

One theory I've heard is that all of our minds are connected on some level, so we can sometimes see the "future" but it's really just other peoples thoughts. Like that place you said you saw could have been in someone else's mind and you saw it.

I don't believe that theory though.

There are plenty of "theories" out there. A multitude of which you should take with a grain of salt.

no clearly we should take this more seriously than evolution, which is "just a theory," and quite controversial. didn't you hear all those school teachers telling the nobel prize winning scientists they're wrong?

    clearly.

i also heard these agricultural scientists were trying to make "theories" on "animal husbandry."

see first you let men marry each other and next thing we've got scientists marrying people to animals!

Actually, I seem to experience Deja Vu in much the same way you described. I just feel like whatever small event just happened is familiar, then the next series of events feels the exact same way. I never really thought much of it, but when it does happen I've taken to trying to guess what happens next. I'm never able to actually guess what happens next, but when it happens I feel like I should have known that was going to happen, because it also feels familiar.

I don't think I've had the experience stretch out to last a week though. Just the "I know this" and being confused at whether I know what this is or not.
