Thread: Does this really work?

So I was listening to music on the bus. And I heard this black guy chatting up a white girl. I didn't hear the beginning of the conversation. They were behind me and the bus was quiet before. He asked her what she does for work. Then she asked him. He said he wanted to be a rapper. She said cool. I make my own music too. Then they started talking about making music. Then the guy asked her if she was going all the way to Jasper place. She said no, she's getting off soon. He said, aww man, nice meeting you. She said yeah you too but I'll give you my number and told him and asked him what's yours? Usually when a girl asks me what I wanted to be I used to say some lame ass thing like vet than they say aww so caring or something. But like with a rapper, you can be rich or famous.

So guys, how could I be a rapper? Or at least look like/act like one. It wouldn't mean I would have to make a living I couldn't make money other ways like working at the restaurant I work at.

I listen to rap songs a lot. I don't think it is a good idea to post my lyrics because it might be very bad, like I don't know what I'm doing and then I might feel bad and cry if someone were to try and help. It might be too hard for me to write lyrics. Now for the beat, that would be hard because I can't play an instrument. What would I do?

How could I make a cd of myself? Then if the girl didn't believe me I could give her my cd for her to listen to. It isn't necessary if anyone would buy it or want to listen to it for free. I could be my number one fan or only fan. Also what songs would be good for someone like me to talk about? Things like hot girls, but what else money? Being poor?

I was gonna post this in the music section but it is also about chatting to girls. So I understand if this gets moved.

Well I didn't think the guy was that hot. He reminds me of Sean Kingston. I think he would look better if he was more muscular/ maybe skinnier, with abs or something. He had earrings. Dyed hair. Facial hair. I didn't like him for his appearance. But I think he's confident- like the ways he speaks. He seems to have a lot of knowledge about music. Also pretty good at talking to girls compared to an average person.

I know there aren't many white women rappers. And my english marks weren't that high. My english/spelling marks in school were low for a white person. But I mean I sometimes used to try and make up songs in my head sometimes. You know when bored like waiting for the bus, before my work shift, on the bus while listening to music quietly, sometimes in class if I was bored. But still even though I get lots of time for practice, that doesn't mean I will succeed. What I would like is talent/skills/knowledge. Maybe that could be taught/ learned. I don't know maybe by music lessons/ books/ someone who knows how to write rap.

But actually, I think you are right, that I wouldn't be good enough for people to want to pay money for my music or to go to concerts. But I was wondering if I could make my own rap songs and record it. That way I could listen to it myself, too. Since I like rap music. Plus it would be personal to me because the songs would have more meaning because I wrote them and they would be my own ideas. It wouldn't have to make me money because I already have a job at a restaurant so it wouldn't be necessary for money. Just a cd for myself.

But anyways the girl, I didn't think she was hot. About average. Not that hot. I saw no hot girls on the bus today. Rather average, plain ones.

ok i can try my camera video on monday. Right now I was trying to edit one of my songs. I can't find the original in my email. It is really crowded unorganized place. So I am sounding it out in my head or saying it softly. If it sounds good keep it, if bad reword, stuff like that. Also, practice saying it in my head/ quietly makes me remember some of the parts that isn't the chorus that I am likely to forget. Plus more practice = less nervous = more prepare = hopefully better quality. Try and write some more. Hope I get good ideas when I go to sleep at night.

Ok, guys I did a practice recording without notes. It was bad. I kept forgetting my lines. I have to have my lyrics in front of me. So I'm copying them out from my computer.

I think my lyrics are ok but my voice is brutal. I sould like a sad, scared, angry, desparate, hopeless, weak girl. So I'm focused on changing my voice now. If only there was some way I could change my voice... Any ideas/help with that part? Thanks.

Also i get so thirsty. I keep having to drink water or else it's hard to speak. So I stopped to take water during the song. My voice gets tired fast. Recording more than one song. Some parts might sound ok. But some sound a bit choppy. I think i'm going to need more practice than I thought. Also the speed-of me singing I think its really off either too fast or too slow I'm talking. Also my lyrics sound confident to me. But when I speak them I sound like I'm not confident and I don't believe in what I'm saying. I sound too girly today. I want to sound tougher.

Like one of my songs, it is supposed to sound confident and funny but I sound like it such a big joke. Guys, I can't stop laughing in this song. Guys I think I might need more practice than I thought. I hate the way I sound but I like the lyrics -now what to do about that. I wanna sound more confident and tough but I think my voice lacks confidence.

well for the part I recorded it has so many parts where my voice doesn't sound as confident as I would like or my voice sounds weird. So I still think I have lots of work to do and this isn't as easy as I thought. Sometimes my voice seems ok for a bit but other times the parts don't flow as much. So I have to record again as it doesn't sound professional yet, too amateurish.

Thanks for the link. I was just listening to my recording, it has so many errors, restarts, water breaks, coughing, laughing and typing breaks. Four songs took 29 minutes. I'm at the 24 minute mark. Thanks the link was very helpful.

My camera is really low on batteries. So I want to recharge it as it stopped recording in the middle of a song. But I can still practice. I just won't be able to hear what it sounds like/ play it back. Which isn't that good, but I could sure use the practice.
