This site needs more activity, so I have a terrible suggestion. Anyone interested in a Mafia game here? We'd only need 9 or so people to effectively run one and I wouldn't mind hosting it.

it's pretty simple:
you get a group of people together. The game is made up of two groups, the Townsfolk and the Mafia. The Townsfolk don't know who anyone is, but the Mafia are told who else is Mafia.
For the Townsfolk to win, they have to eliminate all the Mafia, and they do so by voting to hang them. The Mafia wins by killing off all the townies, or assuming the balance of power in voting (since they control the vote, they'll just vote off all non-Mafia and it counts as a win). Voting is decided by a simple majority.
The game has two phases, Day and Night. During the Day, the all the players vote amongst themselves to see who they will hang that day. One person is hung, their role is revealed and it moves to night. In the night, the Mafia decide amongst themselves who to kill and PM the Game Leader and that person is killed. Day begins and everyone votes again.
There are some third party roles to help the game along. The townies generally have an Investigator, who may learn the role of any one player during the night phase, and a Doctor, who may prevent a single killing at night, provided they choose the right person. Some variations include a Vigilante, who can kill anyone once per game during the day but have no other role past that point. The third faction, the Serial Killer, is a single person who just kills people at night. If the Serial Killer is the only one remaining, they win.
All of the roles are optional - Vanilla Mafia is just Townsfolk vs. Mafia. I would take some out or add other variations if there were enough people for it.
So, if you want to play, just opt in in this thread and I'll create another.

oh, dead players are not allowed to speak in the game thread, because they're dead, or to talk about the game with anyone still playing. But PMing between game players is completely necessary for scams, intrigues etc.
Think: Yeah, it's basically the same form as TWG, sans roleplay
