"I'm innocent, I tell you!" MrShrike screeches, the alcohol strong on his breath as he gets dragged to the makeshift gallows in the town square. "I'm not mafia at all! I don't know what you're talking about! LET ME GOOOO!!!" The noose (made of recycled CDs) is slipped around his neck. As his body falls, it is arrested short of the ground, but something in his suit coat continues anyways. The town gathers around Shrike's kicking feet to examine the item.

Closer inspection reveals it to be a large record (possibly made for a Victrola brand phonograph) with the title MrShrike, Vinyl Tap Mafia Goon Esq. written in old Italian calligraphy across the front. With this revelation, the sun begins to set and Night falls.

DAY 2 BEGINS

The sun rises. It has a habit of doing so.

The world stirs. Some people are more inclined to watch the sunrise. Some never sleep just to see it. Some sleep through it. Regardless of its audience, the sun rises. It has a habit of doing so.

The town gathers together, only to find that the recent population decline is, in fact, an ongoing trend. Where 8 slept, only 7 rise. Sometimes, habits aren't enough. Or perhaps other's habits tend to... interfere.

simonj, Vinyl Tap Mafia Goon has been garrotted in his sleep. The only other clue as to his demise was a note left sitting on his nightstand that read:

"Your social life can suck my dick."

Nobody saw who did this. Surprise, surprise. Another day rises, another mafia downed. The town is certainly on a roll, isn't it?

he voted against zuelan and atmosfear who both went straight for lynching a mafioso, his third "suspect" was me, again, I was voting for mr shrike.
In voting for zuelan, he sided with simonj, the second mafioso, and when mr shrike died and threw suspicion on simonj (in a very transparent attempt to discredit suspecting simonj when his role was revealed), mutton made sure that the post was highlighted. ("quoted for posterity"? really?!)
If he is a townie he has made some terribly terribly terribly unfortunate choices
He is mutton so this is not the case

I agree with Think right now that mutton is the leading candidate for the reasons he stated. I'll go ahead and lynch mutton now, with the caveat that I want to put pressure on him--I think we can gain information this round if we don't just quick lynch with the first four votes.

I just can't wrap my head around a reason why mutton or anyone else would intentionally kill (presumably) the second of three mafia in the night phase. He didn't even gain the benefit of building rapport with the town.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but based on the flavor text, it looks like some night action(s) were prevented. I suspect this means there are two mafia families (and not for a metagame reason like "Vinyl Tap" mafia goon) and the nurse blocked the Vinyl Tap kill, but the other mafia family killed a Vinyl Tap (simonj.)

Unfortunately, that theory doesn't really explain mutton's actions, so he looks more town than he does part of the other mafia family (for the purely metagame reason of, with 9 people, I can't imagine we would have two families of 3 and 3 or 3 and 2--probably 2 and 2, with one family dead.)

Think on this: If almost everyone votes for MrShrike and I suspect other people, those people are going to coincide.

MrShrike's post after he died was obviously significant in some way. Quoting for posterity is how we do, and I saved the post in case coq deleted it.

I actually had reasons for my suspicions unlike the others, so this is the type of situation where if I was right I'd look like a genius, or fishy if I'm completely wrong (that may still not be true).

But yeah the logical move is to lynch me or infernus and if the game doesn't end by then, consider Atmosfear's theory.

Uh mutton just because you didn't vote for a mafia doesn't make you a suspect. In fact it behooves the mafia to vote inline with the town to allay suspicion. I don't think you can safely say that you or infernus is more likely to be mafia based on that single vote outcome.

I also find it curious that you haven't addressed Think, who had at least has somewhat reasonable suspicion of you this round, especially after you named him yesterday.

Two mafia families seems way more reasonable than assuming infernus.

Atmosfear - kudos if the double mafia theory is correct - but I can't see why serial killer/vigilante and nurse doesn't explain last night better than two families would.
My concern is, if this is wrong, even if it's right to an extent, it is hugely maladaptive for the town to think in this way. It makes all the people who are most town open to suspicion because they're killing mafia - if that isn't a narrative open to mafia abuse then I don't know what is. Combine it with your statement just now that mafia vote to lynch mafia and you can see why it's beginning to come off as subversive to me.
So whilst I think that you may well be right (the "vinyl tap" designation does sound like it's there to distinguish different groups, there are other meta reasons it would make sense, like the ban on PMs), and I admit that I might be blinded somewhat by my suspicion that mutton is not only a mafioso but is "vinyl tap", I don't see pressing in-game reasons to accept the hypothesis, and I wonder whether you have a way to turn it into an action plan without it devolving into us eating our young.

A bag marked "Witchery" slips out of the breast pocket and spills over the ground. Moving pictures of injuries, tentacle rape and other varied forms of entertainment stain the ground, but amidst them lies a business card.

Mutton, Bulletproof Godfather of the Vinyl Tap Mafia is written in Sillian Braille on bone-coloured stock. You are all slightly more ashamed about your poor choice of business cards.

DAY 3 BEGINS

It's cloudy, this morning. The rain pours in thick waves from the sky, oppressing the lighter spirits that coem from hitting so many mafia members. Everybody gathers in the town square to congratulate themselves on a job well done. A quick headcount, however, shows something is amiss.

Sponge is missing. The town quickly heads over to his small apartment on a quiet street (he doesn't get out too much, he likes to watch TV) to see what's keeping him. Maybe he slept in?

He did. Turns out he's going to sleep in for a lot more mornings than this one. Sponge was repeatedly stabbed to death. Someone, either the sponge himself or his killer, had left a clip running on his computer, showing him graduating from the 8-track Mafia College and being awarded the title of Goon. Is this a turf war? What's going on?

One thing is certain - the Mafia is not finished with this town yet. Neither is the town finished with the Mafia.

So if theres 2 sets of mafia, with 3 in each groups that leaves 2 mafia and 3 cits, so if we do the lynching we have to do it right guys.

I really have no excuse for why I didn't post or lynch I was just unsure on what I wanted to do and didn't know this shit would go by so fast.

lynch zuelan because to me he seemed suspicious last round by just bandwagoning onto votes during the second day, and thats really the only suspicion I have of anyone.

I'm gonna need protection tonight from the nurse, but I verified last night that zuelan is mafia. I suspect he's the 8-track godfather. I don't think godfathers can die at night (unless it's been bastardized) so this is probably the last chance to get a lynching majority to kill him.

i didn't want to share this information but you leave me no choice, well played, i guess.

i'm a nurse, and i've been protecting myself on both nights. i'm saying i'm a nurse because i don't know if theres another nurse in the game, seeing how several deaths have been adverted so far. the only reason why you'd hog protection and try to kill a nurse would be because you're mafia, and so is think, you two have been playing us all along. Of course you would be the first to know theres two mafia families if a goon dies and its not from your mafia.

Theres few enough that i'll gamble the game on me dying tonight, but I'm a vigilante and tried to kill zuelan last night and failed. I doubt there's actually a nurse so I'm pretty much dead, but the blocked kills have probably been godfathers.

Just to be clear, I wasn't responsible for the 8-track kill. Mine failed.

Also I'm drunk at a wedding so iPhone clause and hopefully not coqauvin repeat also fuck Arkansas.

2 minutes later his feet are swinging in the wind. No business cards are found, but a search of his immense manse on the outskirts of town reveals a large trophy. Atop the trophy are crossed guns over an 8-track player, and at the bottom is the inscription: To our dear friend Zuelan in commemoration of his appointment as the Bulletproof Godfather of the 8-Track Mafia.

GAME OVER

It gets night so quickly and stays night so long in CDville. Atmosfear, the Bulletproof Serial Killer is on the prowl. He knows the tail end of the 8-Track Mafia is there, being all vulgar and Northern in town. Atmosfear can't and won't abide it.

Think, the 8-Track Mafia Goon walks briskly down the alley to Atmosfear's house. He's sick of his shit and is determined to end it, not knowing what was in store.

Atmosfear carefully sights down the length of his revolver. Think's eyes shoot over to Atmosfear's hiding spot as light reflects off the well-polished barrel of his revolver. Think knows what's happeneing before it even occurs.

The BANG is deafening, far louder than it normally is. And Think's head disappeared. Atmosfear shrugs it off and disappears back home.

At the other end of the alley, Infernus and WellAdjusted congratulate themselves on their timing. Not only did they take out their target, they pulled the trigger at the same time as Atmosfear, who still didn't know that they, the Cassette Tape Mafia Bulletproof Godfather (infernus) and his Goon (WellAdjusted), even existed.

The next day, the three of them met at the ol' lynching hall. In about 30 seconds, the Mafia voted for Atmosfear, ignoring the disbelief in his eyes and the racist xenophobia from his throat as he ranted about bringing the purity of the south back to the world. His neck broke quickly and the mafia high-fived and surveyed the bloodied remains of the town where only they still lived and called it a day.

hah I was thinking of bringing up the idea of a third set of mafia as a decoy but I never seriously considered that it could be the case
