The location of the virus has been determined--Rick Scarf's massive porn collection. The only chance of saving Scarf's precious gigabytes of nubile flesh is to run anti-virus and hope your definitions are up to date. If the Mafiabyte virus isn't stopped quickly, it will spread throughout the computer and steal Rick Scarf's identity, dooming Rick, Queendork, and Benjamin Button Baby Scarf to a life of furniture sales, bad credit, and poverty.

The good news is that Scarf keeps his system protected with anti-virus software. The bad news is, like everything else he does, it's half-assed. Namely, it's you. Fortunately, the Casualscan Anti-Virus Suite uses the latest in Artificial Intelligence [sic] to subdivide its Discourse processes, preventing Malware like the Mafiabyte virus from knocking it out in one fell swoop. Casualscan Anti-Virus uses a two-step process to diagnose and repair--the Daylight phase where Discoursers work together, and the Nightowl phase where Discoursers work independently.

Initial scans indicate some of the Casualscan Discourses have already been compromised, but fortunately, the software is designed to secure itself before securing the system. Time is running out--the Mafiabyte virus must be stopped now. Secure the Casualscan Discoursers by eliminating all the viral elements and you can save the Rick Scarf's porn collection. But if all the Discoursers are infected and disabled by the virus, Scarf's collection will be lost, and the porn torrent community will suffer a terrible blow.

Rules!

General rules apply. During the day phase, a majority vote causes a lynch which reveals a role and ends the day phase. There is a time limit on how long the Day phase may last, decided by me arbitrarily. Basically, as long as there is discussion and activity, the Day will go on until a lynch. If the game loses activity, I will set a deadline to restimulate the playing. If a day is just taking too long because you're all wishy-washy pansies, I'll just set a deadline.

At night, night actions are submitted and resolved by the GM with the results posted when everyone has acted, bringing the Day Phase back. The hard time limit for night actions will be 24 hours. Since you are required to make one post per day, you can send in a night action when you check the thread. I don't want this game just sputtering out.

The following special rules are in effect:

1) Private Messaging is Allowed

PMs can be sent between players at will during the Day phase. I will also create a Quicktopic for the Mafiaware Virus players to use (so you don't have to struggle with group PMs if there are three of you.) As always, PMs are not allowed during the Night phase, except between Mafiaware Virus and PMs. If you cheat, I'll ban you from CD.

You can PM me at any time, Night or Day.

2) You must post at least once each day

Inactive town players give the mafia a place to hide. The more you post, the better the game. You must post at least once every 24 hours. We can all see when you've been active on the site, and most people check CD multiple times a day. If you aren't posting, I'll send you a warning via PM. If I keep having to warning you, I'll ban you from all of CD for a while. Go fuck yourself.

If there's something preventing you from posting regularly, let me know. If I know, I can keep people from metagaming it.

All Roles are assigned using a random number generator (random.org) to remove any chance for metagaming. So, yes, despite the fact that Rick Scarf's computer is at stake, he has an equal chance of being the virus.

You are a Mafiabyte Virus! You used to be an Anti-Virus Discourse, but the Mafiabyte infection has turned you. You must destroy all of the Casualscan Anti-Virus Discourses, clearing the way for the Mafiabyte Virus to destroy Rick Scarf's porn collection and steal his identity. During each Daylight phase, you can talk and vote for other Discourses. During each Nightowl phase, you can agree on a Discourse you wish to delete.

You can communicate with all players during the Daylight phase via post or PM.

You cannot communicate with other players during the Nightowl phase.

You win when the Mafiabyte Virus is eliminated, even if you have been deleted to the Great Cloud Server in the Sky.

At Night, you must PM me the name of the player you want to spy on. I will provide you with that player's role.
