Although Canada has limited areas connected to the internet (thus limiting job opportunities) keep in mind you would have to pay international taxes and would need to hire a Canadian CPA as well as paying an "transnational internet labor" penalty to the US IRS on your international income, which is at quite high a rate. The CPA, while not legally necessary, would be very helpful to aid in assisting the waters of Canadian tax laws. Did you know for example that a good Canadian CPA can get you a deduction for mouse trackballs if you use your mouse for business use 90% of the time or more?
I don't think you will have to worry about hot coworkers if you work online in Canada.
Maybe you're having a hard time finding a Canadian translator job because english-speakers are not in short supply.
