I have some pretty interesting/fucked up/vivid dreams, I thought I'd share.
I'd also like to hear other peoples dreams.

Last night I dreamt that I was breaking into an old school friends house through his window to see the new deus ex game that he had downloaded. Then he came into the room as I was just climbing through the window, and I was kind of embarressed so I decided to leave out the window lol.
After leaving I ran into 2 underage(lol) girls out the front of his house and I decided it would be a good idea to go and ask what they were doing.
They needed an errorsheet for homework (I asked but they didn't specify what kind of error sheet) and I started making lewd suggestions in exchange for doing the homework for them. In my defence, they were asking for it; lying on the pavement and wearing red lipstick...

We were about to go into the woods opposite my friends house when I woke up.

Discuss.

I'm incapable of remembering dreams. Have been since I was young.

Fuckin' shame.

There is nothing I hate more than hearing about people's dreams. Except for hearing about their children/pets.

faesce: Try keeping a notepad next to your bed and write them down as soon as you wake up, or what you can remember of them anyway, anything.
Read it through before going to bed.
Apparently this helps with remembering dreams.

also whats wrong with hearing peoples dreams, I can understand children/pets but dreams are interesting yo

Everyone undergoes REM sleep, so everyone dreams.

Most likely you just don't remember any of them when you wake up.


My two biggest nightmares I've been having are being forced to repeat high school with the kids I went to high school with or being influenced by my propensity for religious experiences to go back to Catholicism.


I've heard that some people have abstract dreams or dreams that deviate from their everyday lives and perhaps reflect more "primal" fears, such as ones about tidal waves or fighting off snakes or whatever. My dreams are mostly based on things from my life; perhaps they're so emotionally significant enough for me that I don't need anything more than them :/

I've had a couple dreams semi recently where certain kids I went to school with who picked on me are picking on me again, in school, but it usually ends up very violently lol.
I enjoy those dreams, but it irks me that it has obviously had some lasting effect on me.

I have also had dreams of being naked in public.


And there are those dreams about having gay sex with a really hot guy near my parents, hoping they won't see us...


I think I've said enough.

I had a dream I cooked chicken wings and then while I was eating them I noticed they were becoming more and more uncooked.

A notepad wouldn't do me any good, I literally have no memory of dreams..

I dreamt I was part of the soprano family last night.
Oh I also was playing call of duty with my old housemate (and winning by a lot) and eating someone elses burgers.

I had a legit movie last night.. in my dreams. I had 100 000 grand to spend in a mall and I had to get back to the parking lot beside the car dealership to a girl I wanted I was having trouble spending all the money though so I went to buy a car but it was closed then I couldn't get out of the mall but I found these red pitas that were good luck and as I was leaving the doorman mentioned how they brought on horrible luck to whoever had them last. I ran with them anyways.

Then there was a black screen and a blood red pheonix was born from the pitas.

I should be a script writer. Or screen whatever. I should write movies.

Here is a cleaned-up transcription from my dream journal. I forgot to date this one

A party of four goes deep into the mist-laden woods to capture a crocodile that's been terrorizing the region. It's known to be a huge beast and is terrifying. The atmosphere is very dark and somewhat frightening as the group walks in. I'm not in the group, exactly, I follow the PoV of a lady named Sherry, the only girl in this group.

The party decides to ambush it, after finding it's tracks or nest or something. A large pit gets dug out, lightly covered with branches and leaves to mix in with the underbrush. The plan was to drop the croc in, then leap on it to kill it.

In conscious retrospect, this is a shitty way to hunt crocodiles.

There was all sorts of petty arguments going on and everyone was miserable and all that. I don't remember any of the dialogue.

The croc shows up and doesn't fall into the trap. The group quickly starts fighting it, trying to subdue it or gain some advantage. The croc is huge and bulky - 35 feet long and 8 feet wide at the belly, it drags itself across the ground impossibly fast and it's eyes are filled with malice and glee. The party only has simple tools - a small rifle, running low on ammunition, a couple of machetes and a wood saw. The battle, or whatever it was commences.

The first member, the rifler, gets devoured immediately. The other three jump on the croc right away. Sherry tries to saw through the monster's tail while it kills the second member of the party. She freezes while seeing her friend get eaten and the saw gets jammed in the thick scales and the blood. She crabwalks away from the animal, watching it dance around the last man alive.

she starts hallucinating and talking to the croc, calling it gary. she tells gary that they had prepared a pit for it right there, At some point it had started raining, and the bottom was lined with murky water, leaves and weeds while the sides were slippery with mud.

gary wonders if it's a grave, asking apparently telepathically. One eye always seems fixed on Sherry, but it's baiting the last man who is screaming and swinging wildly with the machete. Sherry says yes. She is panicking, overcome with terror. Gary asks her if she wants to lie down in it. She cries and says she doesn't want to answer, but inside her mind the compulsion to lay down in the water grows. She fights with herself, incapable of moving.

Gary finishes of the last member, grabbing him with his teeth and throwing him into the air before catching and swallowing him. Sherry abruptly realizes this croc is missing and eye. He fixes his remaining one on sherry, glowing faintly red in the jungle dark and his lips move this time - "are you sure you don't want to lie in it sherry? it looks so comfortable."
Sherry crawls into the pit, sobbing.

At this point I wake up covered in a cold sweat at 4AM wondering what the fuck is wrong with my head.

the reason i am empathetic with simonj's dislike of dream recollection is because i am of the belief that one can not directly transfer a dream onto paper without fabricating or embellishing various parts of said dream therefore ruining the integrity

this is true because people often try to fill the missing parts in with what they think happened, or what would happen in dream land

I like hearing dreams, usually they're ridiculously fucked up

well yes, just like i can't relate a profound experience of mine by telling you about it, even if we were face to face.

regardless, it's interesting to see what other people come up with

and also it's a fucking dream of course things are going to get embellished. Sometimes the things in my dreams are massive embellishments themselves.

i don't mean embellished in the sense that it's whacky or exaggerated in conception, i mean embellishment in the transference of that knowledge. and yeah, a "profound experience" might not be transfered exactly as it happened either but at least you were conscious during that experience and have a much better grasp on what happened than in a dream.

I'm not comparing the relative values of profound experiences when asleep or awake, just saying that communicating a dream is like communicating one of those.

You're just as aware, while the dream is occuring, of what's going on in the dream as you are in a conscious experience (not counting hallucinogenics or other party favours), it's only the loss of memory from when you transition between sleep and wakefulness that causes trouble. This can generally be overcome. Also, the longer it's been since you experienced something (even a matter of a couple months), and this is conscious experience, not a dream, the poorer your recollection is of the event, eventually reaching the point where you begin fabricating filler.

i guess a simpler analogy would be like explaining a comic.

i think the state of mind (conscious v unconscious) has a lot more influence on your ability to communicate something than you give it credit for because of that extra step in transferring a dream from your unconscious to your conscious in the first place. lot of stuff is most likely lost during that time.

and because of that i dont believe transferring what happened in a dream to be similar to transferring a moment of brilliance or something else one might label as profound. explaining a comic is different than explaining a dream imo.
