If you're in America you don't get kicked out of your house, you get government handouts and can live for years without paying your mortgage. You'll probably die of starvation before you get kicked out of your house though, so I'd prioritize that problem if I were you.
also, sex trade

I got my allowance but I spent it all on ice cream
yes infact there are a great number of success stories in this field. Including many from Canada and many involving Snickers.
what you need is an upfront financial security package. I happen to specialise in these. What you do is send me the cash you want to invest in a business and I secure it in physical assets according to your interests.
For instance, in your case, I would use your money to buy lots of netbooks, laptops and Snickers bars. This would free your attention to be focused on your indian designing or whatever and I'd have some shiny new laptops until they got all covered in all the Snickers bars I'd be eating.
If you have any suggestions, please send them to me on the back of a cheque.

yesIs it possible to make your own games and sell them?
yesLike have your own indie design company.
laptop yes, netbook maybe not. I spent some time working with XNA (Google search it) and while I didn't run into any issues on my core 2 (fast)/intel graphics (not fast) laptop, I know people ran into issues with netbooks. XNA is the technology games in the XBLIG (the xbox indie games marketplace) use, and C# is basically required so it is marginally easier than using C++. And the development environment is free (Visual Studio 2010 Express + XNA SDK, both free downloads). Also, if you do it with any amount of forethought, it's not particularly challenging to end up with a game that runs on both xbox and pc, so you get two markets for the price of one (no mac, wii or ps3 though).Would it be possible to make on netbooks/laptops?
If you really want to get in the indie game market, do it while you still have income. Every story I've read about indie game developers has included bits about spending money for ages before any real income is realized, if any income is ever realized.
