    Cool Netflix Praise/Recommendaiton Thread

I'm always late to the game. I wish I had used Netflix earlier because I didn't realize how big of a library it had. Granted, I bet it was smaller in years past, but as it stands now it is really interesting. I've barely scratched the surface, so I'm just going to make this Netflix Recommendation Thread and see what to watch, and maybe what not to watch.

Right now, I've got three shows on que: Supernatural, Futurama, and Shark Week.

Supernatural is a neat scifi/fantasy show that started out in 2005 on the CW network. As best as I can sum it up the show is about two brothers who pick up where their father left off, and they travel across the US to investigate and fight off evil spirits, demons, monsters, and other supernatural creatures. I'm seven episodes in, and theres a total of a hundred offered on Netflix. As far as I've seen, the show is pretty entertaining and engaging. If I can relate it to anything, I guess Buffy the Vampire Slayer except the show lacks a mainstay female fatale and kind of runs on the brothers somewhat comedish behavior and interesting, or charming as my girlfriend says, nature. Wikipedia says the show has just been greenlighted for a seventh season, and that is just won two awards from the People's Choice award show for best scifi and best drama.

I think Futurama needs no explanation, but it is the product of thinking of Matt Groening, Simpson creator, that is a scifi animated comedy. The show had a good four season run on Fox, but for some dumb reason Fox cancelled the show because they wanted to put up something crappy. After a few years showing on Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network channel, Futurama has gained a large underground cult following that Comedy Central greenlit two new seasons. I think if you like animated comedies, shows like the Simpsons, or scifi stuff in general you'll probably like Futurama. I'm pretty sure they've got all six seasons on there.

Shark Week is probably the most awesome thing ever. Discovery Channel annually airs on their network a weeklong marathon of shows dedicated entirely to sharks. Great Whites, maneaters, horrible accidents, flying sharks, prehistoric sharks, sharks, sharks, sharks! Netflix makes this so much easier because I can just watching everything whenever I want rather than waiting for the next day for more sharks. If you like nature shows, sharks, or educational programming with a little entertainment then I recommend checking out shark week under TV documentaries.

I'm planning to get Netflix for the summer.

I need to watch the newer seasons of Futurama (I've seen the original 4). I'll probably add that to my queue.

I really should just go to the all-streaming subscription. I've had the same 3 Blu-Rays sitting here for the last 4 months, and the ones before that I had for like 3 months. I just don't watch many movies anymore, I guess.

Netflix streaming is actually painfully inadequate. I only find it really nice for television show catch-ups and full-story arcs. The movie selection is surprisingly sub-par.

And now you have Amazon Instant (which isn't anything to shake a stick at) and all these other streaming services. The demand is causing a lot of supply and there isn't really a cream of the crop yet.
