Flowers For Algernon.
It makes me so sad.
Flowers For Algernon.
It makes me so sad.
there's a character in my play called algernon wooster.
Yes but you can hardly take credit for that, can you?
well i can because he was not in the book don'tcha know
No. I did not. Clearly.
I keep meaning to get around to reading something by Wodehouse but I have yet to do so.
I almost certainly will do over the summer though.
3/4s of the way through the Five books of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy."
Found a pristine copy of 'Of Mice & Men' in a charity shop for 50p yesterday so I bought it and have already nearly finished it.
Achievement Unlocked: Short Book
You've read a really short book in 24-48 hours. 25gp.
I wasn't bragging about it.
I wasn't really making fun of you. Just felt like posting.
Well congratulations, you certainly managed that.
I know. It's pretty tough.
Oh, I just finished "Tell No One", a novel that is supposedly a beach-read, but transcended that to me. Excellent thriller. And it doesn't star a retard.
Just kidding I love Flowers for Algernon.
Here's the books official site: www.manhunt.com
I'm taking my sweet time finishing the Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay. Next up is probably going to either be the history of the Oxford English Dictionary or the history of potatoes.
Philip K. Dick: Best from the 1960s and 1970s
I just picked up Glenn Beck's Common Sense, but I don't know how long it'll be before I actually read it. The book is only 180 pages or something like that so it'll be an afternoon read through, but it looks to be pretty interesting.

I'm sorry you feel that way sole, can we still be e-friends?

Woman look I'm a 10k a day CEO this being on hold stuff just isn't going to work.
I don't even know what "I'll get back to you." means.

I like it though, the prose is beautiful and has an air of Joyce about it, were Joyce more of a feminist (although I suppose, in some ways, he was - he certainly believed in equality).
I think I'm going to go and read more in bed before I attempt sleep.
amo, amas, amat and all that by Harry Mount
Described as an "inspired romp through the language, literature and history of ancient rome"
It isn't bad

currently reading catch 22
not impressed so far!
how are you not impressed?!
I find Heller's style of writing to be awesome (and hilarious at the same time, though not as funny as some find it admittedly), and well I mean his weakest point is his characterisation and his characterisation is better than most other writers'.
Horses for courses I guess

no scratch that I just flicked through it
it is incredibly funny and the characterisation isn't as bad as I've made it in my memory either
it did take me a long while to acclimatise to the style though, I found it grew on me, because it was so different to anything else I had read when I started. Where are you in it?

I have My Almost Epic Summer by Adele Griffin sitting on my desk. It boasts a splash proof cover so that I can read by the pool. I doubt I will be reading this. Anyone want it?
Just started/finished Beck's part of that book today, it was pretty good to be quite honest. The original Thomas Paine Common Sense is in the back of it so I'm about to read it again.
Next up is The Book of Thoth by The Master Therion himself. It's been a long time since I've read it and I've forgotten a lot of it, so I thought it was a good time for me to get a bit of refreshment on the subject.

I don't feel like going through 5 pages to see if anyone has already read/suggested this book.
I hope they serve beer in hell by Tucker Max
I just finished it a couple days ago. I highly recommend this book to everyone.
I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell was a pretty hilarious read, even if the veracity of the stories is dubious at best.
I paused reading The Fountainhead in favour of Scar Tissue by Anthoy Kiedis, and I gotta say it's pretty fascinating. It's no real surprise that he really, really likes drugs, and he's done a lot of them, but what really makes the book gripping is the combination of his intense childhood (I was surprised to find out that him and Flea were boyhood friends) and his absolute passion for music and his strange, almost surreal perspective of the world that I find pretty inspiring.
I am now re-reading Right Ho, Jeeves and my laughter is disturbing my co-workers.
I'm reading House Of Leaves. I'm about 100 pages in.
