Default Transformers 2 and GI Joe

Did anyone catch the teasers for the Superbowl spot? I was blown away by GI Joe. Looks like it can be a cool action flick.

Transformers 2 just looked like it was going to be a lot larger in scale and way more awesome than the first. This summer is going to rule.

Yeah I saw those, they did look pretty decent. Was that Dennis Quaid in the GI Joe movie?

Transformers 2 looked exactly like the first so that is good. Fast and Furious looked disappointing though.

I would also like to add the new Angels and Demons looked promising too. I actually enjoyed The Da Vinci Code so lets see how this goes.

GI Joe can go fuck itself. In the new movie GIJOE is supposed to stand for some gay world organization shit. They ruined GI Joe. In the new movie GIJOE stand for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity. He's GI Joe and he'll kick your fucking ass while drinking a beer, eating a piece of apple pie and fuck your girlfriend all at the same time. He's not a fucking Global Integrated Douchebag, hes GI Joe, A real fucing american hero. I will see this movie, but immediately afterwards I will boycott it and ruin movie sales by protesting.

    T2 will be good.

GI Joe will be great...especially with Quaid.

A&D will be good if I see it after I read the book.

There has already been the best T2 there will ever be and, despite the actual film making no mention/having no relation to the titular Judgement Day, it still absolutely fucking rocks. Trucks that can walk and talk will never compete.

I was just abbreviating for the sake of being lazy.

And T2:JD was nowhere as good as the first one.

My point still stands. I'm basically saying the second Transformers film will suck balls (to those of us with taste in movies - the first one sucked pretty hard too).

And T2:JD was a completely different film to the first one in almost every way. It was just as good though, just in very different ways.

T2 was better than the first terminator by a mile.

Transformers 2 is going to suck.

GI Joe is going to be God-awful, but then again I still have a VHS player and a single tape and that tape is GI Joe (1986) which is fucking awesome and ought to be canon.

Terminator 2 is probably the greatest action movie ever made. In my opinion.

Transformers 2 makes me giggle with excitement, just because it is an excuse to watch Megan Fox. Alot.
And I have a mancrush on Shia LeBeouf.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see that GI Joe is becoming PC. I recall hearing that the producers did not want to alienate non-Americans by making the movie based on A Real American Hero. Still, I'll watch it and hope it doesn't suck. Hell, I just bought another figure last week. I haven't gotten any of the newest ones being carried by large stores, though. I still have pictures of myself playing with my new VAMP on Christmas day in nothing but my Underoos. Been a few years ago now. I don't play with them anymore, but GI Joe has watched my back for over 26 years.

I'm not sure if it's political correctness that has changed GI Joe or just the knowledge that the rest of the world would be completely bored by and has no desire to see a movie about Another American Hero.

There's a new Transformers preview posted on this page. Doesn't explain any bit of the plot besides the fact that there are a lot of robots wanting to fuck each other up.

Something about a huge cube that a large robot wants a small boy to shove into his chest cavity.

"SAM, IF I CANNOT DEFEAT MEGATRON, SHOVE THE ALL-SPARK INTO MY CHEST...

    ...

"IF I CAN DEFEAT MEGATRON, DO IT ANYWAY. I WILL GIVE YOU INSTRUCTIONS THAT YOU ARE TO FOLLOW. YOU MAY NOT LEAVE UNTIL WE ARE DONE."

Well that's not much better. That's just like having a man crush on an older little girl.

Paddy Considine is the (no homo) sex.

I'm guessing political correctness. I'm just upset that they're alienating everyone who grew up with GI Joe by doing this. It doesn't sound bad, but it also doesn't sound like GI Joe.

I think it's just that no one really cares about the whole gung-ho American action hero too much any more. It's been done to death and, frankly, the rest of the world would hate you even more for making a movie like that. It's already been lampooned perfectly in Team America, why further the stereotype? Especially when the only reason fans are pissed off is because they feel someone is messing with their 'nostalgia'.

Political correctness is nothing to do with this.

In my mind he'll always be the guy in Disco Pigs but, no, he's still not manly enough in 28 days later to warrant a heterosexual man crush.

Well, in a way the GI Joe movie mirrors Clinton's Army in the 1990s. Michael New refused to convert from Real American Hero to Global Integrated Joint operations Entity, or whatever GI Joe is supposed to stand for now and he got shown the door. http://www.mikenew.com/meet.html

As for nostalgia, yeah, it runs strong in many men (boys, perhaps?) my age. In the Eighties GI Joe found an identity much stronger than its 12" and Adventure Team days. Hell, I grew up watching the cartoon, playing with the figures and masturbating to Lady Jaye and Scarlett running around the woods screaming Yo Joe! Now it's come full circle and I'm paid to do the same thing.

Back to the movie, at least the characters are the same. Too bad there's no Muskrat, Beachhead or Shipwreck, those were always favorites.

Because I don't care. As far as I'm concerned there's no way this movie will be as good as the one that they should have made.

    And you're a brit, you wouldn't understand.

There's no way this movie would ever be good.

It's a movie remake of an 80's kids toy phenomenon. When has that ever worked?

And I may be a brit but I still had all the toys.

I highlighted the important parts. But seriously, I'm just disappointed they ruined something from my childhood. I agree that it would be better if they had just let GI Joe go down in history as an awesome toy and nothing else.
