She actually doesn't mention any other people on the island, after meeting everyone. I assume she would do this so she could steal Claire's baby and deliver it to the Other's, which she attempted at the end of S1, but they took Walt instead.

I don't think she really turned into their friend until S2/S3.

now as for jumping the shark, wasn't mp's quote "if they introduce time travel, and it isn't the entire point of the series, they've jumped the shark"?

clearly, the time-travelling properties of the island are a major point of, if not THE point of the series. i think not only is it perfectly acceptable in the world we have come to known, but it is perfectly in tune with the tone of the series (due to all the time-related storytelling that's gone on, eg. flashbacks/forwards), and it's the only satisfying direction the series can take after the constantly increasing shit that's happening in it -- how else to explain adam and eve, jacob, and every damn thing else on the island.

in other news, i'm pretty sure i've figured out not the end but the point of the story, and i'm 90% sure i'm right because apparently the show used to be called the circle. i can explain it, but it's not a very satisfying end and you may not want to hear it.

Well Lost wasn't initially marketed as "about time travel" so really it doesn't matter what the producers always wanted to do.

Even if the use of time travel in the show "makes sense," time travel itself doesn't, so it's still shark jumping as far as I'm concerned.

smoke monsters don't "make sense" either, but the show didn't jump then. your reasoning is... unfollowable. you just don't like where it's gone, is all, which i can't disagree with. but you're claiming some higher judgment on grounds that almost nobody else agrees with and even fewer people understand.

i'm fine with making judgments about this stuff, but you seem to be saying your judgment is more accurate than everyone else's.

Next week's ep looks epic. I wonder what he meant by killing Jacob. I always thought Jacob was Christian or some sort of representation of him.

I did hear a rumor that next week will be a Jacob centered episode, though.

Tonight was amazing, the scene with two John Lockes blew my mind.

Oh man. When John said "Im going to kill em", I was literally like "O.o".
I definitely did not see that coming.

That episode was pretty amazing.

Although the scene where the sub shipped off was some pretty terrible cgi.

I think their budget got slashed as viewership died down.

But the CGI has always been spotty. The freighter blowing all the way back to the wonderful Polar Bear.

The CGI is perfectly sufficient to tell the story. It is not laughably bad and it's rarely unclear.

Well the sub is the only thing that has made me think 'wtf?' so far. There's other stuff that hasn't been great but you can't expect it to be pixar quality. But the sub looked like something from a big budget late 90's playstation game.

This entire season, Evilocke has been using the time-travel to his advantage, to get Locke to think he has to die and come back, so that he can use his body as 'the leader' to meet with Jacob, and have him killed.

Also, I think Jacob and Evilocke are just rivals, but they are there to protect against a larger threat. Perhaps. So the murder of Jacob might be more indicidentall to S6 than anything else.

Or, wait.

I thought I had the show figured out, and that it was a causal loop. Jughead was going to cause the Incident, the survivors were going to cause their own crash, and ensure the cycle goes as planned.

Now I'm thinking otherwise. The circle has been broken. The Incident happened independent of Jughead, because it began significantly before it exploded. Now, things have changed.

I believe the death of Jacob is ANYTHING BUT incidental -- it's hugely significant. That's why it happened so easily and so nonchalantly. Jacob kept talking about a choice. People had choice. Sound familiar? Sounds like Faraday's epiphany, doesn't it. This story has always BEEN about Jacob and Esau (I saw him called that elsewhere -- Esau is Jacob's Biblical brother and rival, and I liked it). Esau has won, for now, but since the timeline has just been changed (because of the variables -- people's ability to choose), things might turn out differently when they play out... again.

(Well... not "again". More like "over themselves".)

This show has always been about Jacob (white shirt) and Esau (black shirt).

Secondary thought: Widmore and Ben's inability to kill each other is reminiscent of Jacob and Esau's inability to kill each other.

I think evil locke is the smoke monster. He can become anyone dead like Alex, Christian, and Locke.

I had always thought Christian was a good guy but I guess I'm wrong.

I think either he IS smokey or smokey is his agent.
