Thread: LOST [Spoilers]

DirecTv's The 101 keeps on playing the LOST season 1 recap but in the channel guide it's just titled "Lost". Every time I see it in the guide I think that The 101 is playing episode reruns or at least a different season's recap but no, just season 1 recap over and over and over. I don't know why I fret though. I have all of LOST on my computer.

In the alternate reality these things change:

Hurley now considers himself a very lucky person
Desmond is aboard Oceanic 815
Boone is flying back without his step-sister Shannon

Hurley and Desmond's new situations can be easily explained. Hurley never hears about the "cursed" numbers since the Hatch was never built and Desmond never crashes onto the island since the island is now below the sea.

However, why does Shannon decide to stay in Australia? How did the island affect her life before the plane crash?

It's not an 'alternate' timeline, because that implies that there is one correct, and one incorrect timeline. They simply exist parallel. One is no more real than the other.

And the bomb affected her life pre-plane crash because they couldn't get her to sign a contract. If you really want to reach, it could have something to do with the death of her mother.

well that's a bit of a pointless statement, really. it's been altered. it's alternate. it's perfectly fine and indeed handy to refer to it as the "alternate" one. what's the alternative? "secondary"? "new"? those are even more misleading. let's stick with alternate.

shannon's life has really been changed by the fact that the actress couldn't make it happen due to scheduling. so the reason for her not being there is probably kind of tenuous and unplanned anyway.

well, it'd be a bit weird that ONLY NOW they start pouring the ash around in the temple. i mean if there was permanently a worry that he'd be coming round, you'd think they'd leave the ash there.

sayid has been replaced by jacob's nemesis? that's why "if he dies, we're all in big trouble"? however, a) that's pretty obvious for Lost, and b) they must've known that'd be a possibility, and surely they would have tossed his body out or something.

anyone else cry when it was confirmed that john locke was dead? i improvised, though, and masturbated using my tears as lube and i really felt close to him again. i'll never forget the man he was.

well they were certainly either under it or under the area between it and that big ol' wall around it

we don't know how far in they went, and that wall is like half a mile away from the temple i think they said at one point

ahhhh so he's not been taken over by smokey -- perhaps it's that he's got the same "sickness" that danielle's crew got

also, lost is one of the most unpredictable, unreadable shows on television, but occasionally it disappoints and sets up a reveal way too obviously.

this, on the other hand, tosses you a complete and utter curveball

Well it's getting to the point where if they don't start giving actual answers to some of the questions, I'm just going to stop watching and read about it on lostpedia after the fact.

3 hours into the final season TV event of the century OMG and we have more questions that we started with, more characters that we don't give a shit about (and won't have enough time care for anyways) and no fucking LOGIC behind anything. Why is the Big Bad remaining unnamed--this isn't a fucking mystery core question to give an important character/concept at least a colloquial name? Why wouldn't The New Others lay some of the facts on the table, especially given their apparent need for cooperation, and why wouldn't any of the Lost actually ask meaningful questions and demand answers? They are in the obvious position of power and are antithetical to their own characters in not using it (fucking Sayid especially, but also Miles and, to a lesser degree, Sawyer.) Hell, Jack tries to bargain without chips to his own demise 9 times out of 10... why wouldn't he try to bargain when he actually has leverage?

And then the twist is fucking CLAIRE? The whole episode was about her and we KNEW she had to be alive on the island in order to be part of the eventual crash-free future.

Also, Gina, if you're reading this, Mack from Always Sunny is in this episode but he's a total pussy
