    Thoughts on the second episode?

Fuck, man. Heart-in-throat stuff. Alpha scares the shit out of me for some reason. I hope the whole show isn't this intense or I will just lose the will to watch it. An episode like this every so often is fine, though.

Also, it's great to see the mystery coming along.

I loved it. Much better than the pilot (which was good, too).

I am surprised at how much I don't like it.

Yeah. The only thing that still bores me is Ballard's story.

I mean, Joss has already written one of those stories before: Kate in Angel went through the same thing.

It was certainly better than the first in my opinion. I'll continue to record it.

Well episode six was, as advertised, quite the game changer. It was also, as advertised, by far the best episode there has been. Good plot, a couple of great characters (I loved Patton Oswalt) and some excellent, excellent dialogue. My favourite exchange:

DOMINIC: You played a good hand, ma'am.
DEWITT: I played a bad hand very well. There is a distinction.

Not much on paper, but DeWitt's delivery was wonderful. She grows and grows on me as a character.

What I really did not like was the vox pop bits. I know it was called "Man on the Street" and everything but guh. It was written kind of pretentious and the actors playing "normal people" were not very good. It was also filmed all wrong and did not feel like something you'd see on the news.

The heavily hyped show from Joss Whedon has fallen on its face in the ratings department (last week's episode drew less than four million). Despite slight improvement in quality (the "game-changing" episode six was better, but still disappointing), Dollhouse just doesn't seem to have what it takes to draw an audience, even from faithful Whedonites. There's a solid foundation for a great show here... can Joss realize its potential?

Well, I personally thought it was awesome when one of the male dolls got an erection in the shower.

It's a decent show, but I can't see it being renwed for another season.

It's in a terrible timeslot, and the metaplot isn't interesting enough to keep people hooked on it week to week.

The only hope this show has right now is to survive solely on internet revenue.

It really feels like Joss is grasping at straws here, desperately trying to create another Buffy.

I wish Joss wouldn't have killed off Spike. Then he could have gotten a spin-off.

    I would watch that.

I watched the first three or so episodes, then I stopped watching because the show isn't really that interesting. They should've just brought back Firefly.

Spike died in the last episode

You know this to be true (because it is)

EDIT: Oh cats, he came back in season 5 of Angel. Season 5 of Angel is my weakest Whedon area because I don't think I've ever seen it all the way through.

right now he's alive and well (or, uh, undead and well) in the angel comics, which are nothing special but not terrible

I love Buffy Season 8. I haven't read the Angel comics though. Angel as a series always seemed weak to me (though still good, don't get me wrong), which is why I don't know as much about it. Plus, I haven't watched it all the way through eleventy-million times like I have Buffy and Firefly.

Rumors abound that Terminator: TSCC has been cancelled. I can't see Dollhouse surviving if it was.

TSCC rumors have been circulating for a while. The rumor was that they broke down set pieces which is essentially a clincher, but someone from the studio said that they were not breaking but rather shuffling. I mean what else would they have for Friday night?

Yeah, both those things get better. The pilot is TERRIBLE. It was never aired, just shown to the network and then released on DVD or something. Season 1 is okay but only really gets awesome in the final episode, and seasons 2-5 really see the show at its best. Season 3 is my particular favourite.

Well, I'm gonna watch a few more episodes from season one tonight, but I think I'l probably start looking for a torrent for season two. It's actually a lot better than I thought it would be. Plus I like Alyson Hannigan.

Oh yeah, I will, I can't skip episodes in TV shows unless they're just filler. If it contributes to the storyline I watch it. Is Angel a spinoff or something though? I don't understand how that works.

Angel leaves at the end of season 3 and his show starts there. Season 1 of Angel therefore runs parallel season 4 of Buffy, season 2 of Angel with season 5 of Buffy, and so on. Buffy ends in season 7, which is Angel's season 4, and then Angel went on to have one more season when Buffy ended.

This thread has made me want to watch seasons 2, 3 and 4 of Buffy again.

When I'm done with The Wire I may download them or just find a friend with the boxsets.

I really liked this week's episode. DeWitt is pretty much my favourite character, so I liked seeing her outside the House a bit, and I so did not see the thing with Mr Lonely Hearts coming.

I've been steadily losing confidence in this show, but this episode was a step back in the right direction. I still think it has loads of potential.

I thought this show was god-awful for a long time. The dialogue has been cheap and has made me feel embarrassed repeatedly, and I've always thought Eliza Dushku was a terrible actress. This show doesn't exactly change my mind on that one.

But! The episodes that give us hope that Caroline is still rattling around somewhere inside of Echo are interesting. I watch the show on Hulu.com when there isn't anything else left to watch, and I'm admittedly becoming more intrigued. I find myself wanting to know what Caroline did, exactly, to land her in the Dollhouse. I want to know more about DeWitt (by the way, love her). I really like Topher, too. There is still a LOT of cheese, and it's hard for me to get past it, but I'm slowly getting sucked in. For the story, not Eliza's acting.

Joss Whedon's ambitious show will be cut short by one; 12th episode reportedly original vision for season finale.

I agree with most of this, except where you hate Eliza Dushku, I just don't really have an opinion of her.

I'm fascinated by Caroline's story, and I'm sure there's more to it. I'm also fascinated by the Dollhouse itself. Also, it's good to know that "sending someone to the attic" isn't just some futurespeak euphemism for "kill them".

Loved more depth to DeWitt's character, even though I thought it a bit strange that she was finding that depth with a doll. I bought it. Topher is becoming more and more likable. The show is finding itself and going from "whatever" to "interesting".
