    You guys are shit. If people are sufficiently moved or excited enough at the end of a movie to applaud it, why is that bad? Will they ruin your experience of the end credits?

    During the movie is another thing, but we're not talking about that.

    So it's not weird for me to applaud after watching a DVD at home by myself or with 1 or 2 more people?

    A cinema isn't on your own with 1 or 2 people. It's a crowd of people which is a lot different.

    Besides, yes, even at the cinema it's certainly weird, but I'm not going to stand in anyone's way for it.

    So then, if I'm not applauding for myself (since a cinema is "different" from watching a movie on my own), and I'm obviously not applauding for the people on screen (since they can't hear my adulation)...

    ...who exactly am I applauding for? The other movie-goers? Does my applause enhance their cinematic experience?
