The movie's pretty bad.
Most Buffy fans will say they'll have nothing to do with it, but they'll watch it out of curiosity.
I just think it's a pretty lame idea. I don't see anything ridiculously sacrilegious about it any more than it's sacrilege to make Batman movies without consultation from Batman's creators, or JJ Abrams making a Star Trek -- what irks me is how much it smells like easy money. No creativity, no storytelling is going to go into this (if it ever gets made, which I find unlikely), it's just a cash grab.
Years from now, without the Kuzuis (I don't like them), a Buffy movie could be made without Whedon. I'd be cool for that. It'd be good for Buffy as a character to be taken out of an auteur's hands, but only if the story is treated like a story, and not like an easy way make a bit of money.
Yay Anthony Stewart Head.
