also, yeah, it is a decent show. skyler bugs the crap out of me, but that is balanced by hank's ever-increasing awesomeness

Man, I really wanted to watch it when it first got announced, but then I missed the premiere and a few subsequent episodes, and never got the urge to go track them down

But it's on netflix, right?

I am sure it was a joke, but Walt Jr actually has cerebal palsy, as does the actor who portrays him ^_^

I think it is the best show still on television, people think Dexter or Mad Men are better...but i would have to disagree.

The gritty cinematography and realism of Breaking Bad is just astounding...not to mention its tight performances and writing. Highly reccomended for anybody who enjoys anything of any kind at any time of the day in any period of thesgngs sdj gh djiodus gi d *MY BRAIN MELTED*

I actually had forgotten about breaking bad, I kind of stopped watching half way through the second season and never bothered to catch up... Maybe I should do that.

I would say yes. It's a strange combo of dark comedy and drama with some oddly compelling characters. The first season was very well constructed and had me hooked the entire way through. I'm only halfway through the second season, but it doesn't seem to me to be as gripping as the first.

this keeps happening with tightly serialised television >:/

given how such television is only now in its adolescence, it's fair enough, but really -- learn to plan better, showrunners.'

edit: for whatever reason, the more loosely serialised television of the last 20ish years (think x-files, buffy, west wing -- that level of serialisation) seemed to have the opposite problem, of needing a while to get its groove and find its feet. most serieses of that nature peaked way later than their first seasons.

yeah i finished season 2 and was pretty disappointed

walt was just an asshole. there wasn't any real development like in season one that led him to that, he was just an enormous prick all the time. The only remotely interesting thing that happened was the season cliffhanger, once the whole Tuco arc was completed.

Hank is still pretty awesome though.

Right on all points. It's an interesting renaissance for TV, of sorts.

Yeah. I think that some programming has evolved beyond these older sorts of series, but I dunno what that has to do with the current trend we're seeing. Maybe the issue is that the first season has a tight, well-planned story arc which introduces the characters and engages them with the audience, and then after that they're not sure quite what to do with them.

i think it's a case of very good television writing under pressure -- you HAVE to pitch it well for it to get a pilot, then the pilot has to be great for it to be made, and by the time you get to the first season you've been so excitedly planning and writing your heart out. maybe for years. but you don't get that level of preparation OR pressure once you get to season 2.
