There is no suspense, there is no feeling of impending doom, there is no fearing for yourself going into a dark room cause scary man may be there. Halloween pretty much founded itself on you not knowing where Michael was, but knowing he was close, then his ass would pop out and slash and stab.

Blood and Gore is not horror, suspense and fear is horror.
The first Saw had all those things. It even made my cousin literally scream at one point when we first watched it (my cousin being a 6ft straight dude).
