Well Music is nice, but I feel for some exercises, namely cleans and any exercise I'm jumping with, headphones suck. Maybe its just my cheap ass $10 headphones, but the cord is wicked long so its flying around or getting caught on something.

For Cardio, it is shown you will run faster and harder with faster music on, so I understand (and do) that. Tough to do intervals with music on though, so I invested in a GymBoss. Best $20 I've ever spent on anything for my workouts.

Guess I'm finding songs with a fast beat/tempo to them.

See I want to try out that Tabata stuff you were telling me about, but I don't have a workout partner, I noticed they mention the GymBoss on a Tabata website I saw, but what exactly is it/how well does it work?

The GymBoss is a timer unit. Basically you can set two different times and it rotates between counting down from it. So you want to do 20 second intervals with 10 seconds rest? It will count down 20, then 10, then 20, etc for you. It also has a stopwatch function. The really grand part is that it doesn't just beep, it screams! It can be set to vibrate too. Although the screaming beep is nice in case you don't use headphones or prefer to have it off you. Its smaller than an ipod, so its never in the way.

Honestly, I first got it for sprinting intervals a while back, and have been using it since. Set it for my single rest period of 30 secs during weight training, start a set when its done. Best $20 I've ever spent for workout equipment. Really helps keep the intensity up.

Also good choice on Tabata- that will leave you drenched in sweat.

    Ninja Edit:

    Official website:
    www.gymboss.com

But you can also get it off Amazon so if you have like a discount or whatever, check for it there.

I listen to a lot of techno/electronica and some heavy metal while working out. I get a better workout with those music types. It gets my adrenaline pumping and I'm able to do more. Great stuff.
