We have a white castle on the other side of town here. But the last time I went there this guy who had graduated a couple years before me was there, he was standing in the drive through tripping balls trying to order a million cheeseburgers. Then he tried to climb in our already packed car because he recognized us. Plus the food isn't so great.
Having grown up in the south and eating at Krystal's, and now living more north and eating White Castle, I can attest that Krystal burgers are better, and they don't make you shit half as much because they aren't anywhere near as greasy.
I haven't eaten at White Castle in years, I did have Krystal a couple of years ago, though, but I honestly can't remember which I preferred when I lived near both. Steak n' Shake is a completely different sort of burger joint, and they are easily the best I've been to. Come to think of it, though, I haven't had Whataburger or Cheeburger Cheeburger since moving down here. I used to love What-A-Burger up in VA, though. I'll also miss Five Guys.
I like them with everything. A bit messy, but good. Also, I love the fact that an order of fries consists of a greasy brown bag with an overflowing styrofoam cup inside. No health concerns there. I agree they are overhyped, but their reputation and service allowed them to expand quite a bit in the past few years. I don't think there were any in the Richmond area when I first moved to DC. According to Wikipedia, they've got more than 300 locations now, compared to five in 2002. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_Guys[/ame]
