Those are the exact ones I went for, so I'm gonna back you up on that. Although I also put a few points on speech because it comes in handy with some of the more whiney characters.
Anyone wanting to avoid learning about some of the unique weapons should probably stop reading now. I'd put it in a spoiler, but it's such a small thing. Shitface, Ol' Painless is probably my favourite small arm, although you'll also find the Xuanlong Assault Rifle, the Victory Rifle, Lincoln's Repeater and various others if you look around a little bit. Most are just the same model as their non-unique counterpart, but with improved stats.
Oh thats a bit of a let down.
I was expecting some awesome looking guns, not the same ones with better stats.
Unique Chinese Assault Rifle and others
I have been listening to Enclave Radio because every once in a while they play Dixie
My first runthrough was good/small arms/sneak/lockpick/science/repair.
My second (current) runthrough is evil/unarmed/big guns/repair.
I cleaned out Megaton before I set the nuke off. Everyone gets a ride on the Fisto! train. If I don't sell them to the slavers first. Anyone have any idea what the slaver who runs the shop will give you if you help him with his rifle problem?
On topic somewhat...
just dropping by the thread to say that this game has me.
Words cannot describe.
Dear god i <3 Fallout 3 with a passion. Some people think that its too hard, and it tends to glitch out sometimes. I had someone over to play it and in the very beginning the door woulden't open so the dad could give you the bible lesson after choosing your stats. To be honest thats what she gets for naming her character Pete...
My main guy is a Charm/Small Guns user who is a kleptomaniac saint <,<
I fucking loved A3-21's Plasma Rifle. Not only will it save ammo by taking almost anything out in three hits or less, but by the endgame you will be finding so much ammunition with it you won't know what to do with it all. I had 60 shots with it, by the time I got to the last story-related mission I had over 300.
I'm pretty sure if I used a stimpack every time I had two health missing and used guns against every enemy I would still have more health and ammo available to me than I would ever need.
You have to be legitimately bad at video games to think Fallout 3 is at all difficult. I'm assuming if those are major concerns for this person, he didn't try the game on max difficulty, nor did he continue it long enough that the level cap had an effect.
My now favorite thing in the game so far is let the ghouls into tenpenny tower and let them kill everyone and then go in and loot everything, 70 stim packs and a whole mess of caps later I am ready for anything.
So...I tagged sneaking and now seriously regret it. It kinda sucks. I mean, there are only so many times you can stick a live grenade into someone's pants before it gets old.
Yeah, endgame sucks, even without an optimized character. I've optimized a lot more on this second walkthrough, and its pretty cake, even as melee-only for the first 10 levels. The game has been ridiculously easy thus far (and this is without the dart gun).
I'm hunting for the 3 rock-it launcher schematics so the fist will be a thing of the past though (except for sneaky mr. sandman critty goodness because it makes me laugh).
Lols who doesn't play these games on super hard mode?
Oblivion was tough as shit for awhile like that, but this is still purty easy
<--- guess what video game I bought yesterday
For many games, especially RPGs, I agree. However... I'm not having a really easy time with Fallout 3 in normal mode...
Maybe it's because my spec sucks since I to thinly distributed my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points and skill points way too thinly rather than specializing in a couple particular skills?
Also, I walked from Farragut West to Tenelytown/Friendship Heights via the red line metro tubes... lol?...
Sole, you forgot to mention that this is an alternate history, and hence why the DC area has such a different layout to it. Only 3 metro lines and many new/different locations... the closest I can get to College Park and Hyattsville in this game is Takoma.
Next time I have a computer that is capable of playing any sort of game I plan on purchasing this one.
I loved the original Fallout games, never really found anything else that I liked better
Welcome to the madness castle/sycld.
As far as I know it hurts your sneaking.
sycld: I hardly specialized because I had a moment of idiocy and didn't realize you could lower stats. I don't have the high INT I would if I were really doing it right, but it really doesn't make a difference. Between the skill points perk, Comprehension perk, and bobbleheads it's awfully hard not to max every useful stat by 20. Depending on what skills you tagged, I would probably focus on sneak and/or your weapon skill until you get at least to 75. If you tagged science or lockpick, I would get that high enough to Mentat to the next level pretty quickly too. (Note that for science and lockpick that a rating of 51 is the same as a rating of 74--don't waste points leaving it in the intermediary. If you get 19 skill points per level and have a lockpick of 50, put 6 points in lockpick at the next level (and boost another skill) then put all 19 to get to 75 on the second level up. You'll get more utility for your points this way.
The best advice you can get for low levels is conserve ammo and beat things with a melee weapon. If you get the Shishkebab from the Deliver Lucy's Message quest as quickly as possible, you'll have more than enough damage to get you to the level and economy to use your weapon skill without worrying about ammo (unless you tagged Big Weapons which you should probably just restart.) Also, it's worth noting that melee weapons are better than unarmed weapons if neither is your specialty because STR gives a bonus to melee damage but not unarmed damage. Even if STR was your dumpstat (STR wasn't your dumpstat)
Well... crap.
Thanks for the advice. Makes sense, and from the level requirements I've been seeing in the game, I just realized that there are thresholds for each skill like this. I'll keep it in mind from now on.
I'm playing it as a total pussy.Quote:

I get the feeling that my rewards for being a bad ass would be more than a crappy free Stimpack.
She won't stop. She just won't fucking stop. She relentlessly appears and runs toward you giving you a never ending supply of useless crap like dirty water. I'm pretty sure it's just a test bethesda came up with to see how just how good people were willing to be.
I killed her via the console. It was the right thing to do.
The rewards of being evil are as follows:
1. Miss the canon resolution when returning to Vault 101what happens
2. House in Tenpenny, which has access to better ammo supplies than Moira. Unfortunately, you can't kill Alister Tenpenny without gaining good karma.
3. If you can click it, you can take it. If anyone bitches, kill them.
4. Kill that LARPing vampire faggot, take his shishkebob and all the rest of his shit. If you play it right, you can get all the perks of the quest (including some good karma) and then lose all the karma back by slaughtering his gang and the entire town of Arefu. I think I leveled 2 or 3 times in the course of this quest, and I didn't even search for the hideout.
5. Tranquility Lane is a lot more fucked up if you aren't worried about the negative karma from completing the quests.
6. In the event of an emergency, kill the whole town
7. Sell Brian Wilkes to the slavers at Paradise Falls. Fuck that, sell everyone to the slavers at Paradise Falls.
The major drawback is that you can't get Fawkes and his Gatling Laser.
Just finished the game. It was a great adventure!
So what was the level twenty perk that everyone took? First time around I grabbed explorer because I was too lazy to google locations. Now I am thinking about grabbing grim reaper's sprint. Any suggestions?
Yeah game is really easy, I would just rush the first playthrough then make another char afterwords and perfect that one.
You know you can up the difficulty, right?
hopefully the DLC they announced today will up the difficulty a bit.
Love it when the PS3 gets shafted on DLC. Bethesda should realize by now it's not chic to hate on the PS3 as many developers got the stick out of their ass, but no Bethesda. No confirmed DLC for the PS3 for F3. Which is bullshit. Feel like I'm being punished for picking the system with virtually no failure rate.
What is this DLC you are talking about?
lol how did you manage that?
That does suck a little.
To be honest I'm looking forward to the mod tools more than the actual DLC. The oh-so-wittilly named G.E.C.K. mod kit means someone may finally be able to put together an iron sights mod or throw in some of the missing items/armor from the earlier games. I may even try myself. Although I will fail.
I wish the game had joinable factions, a la morrowind. Can someone DLC this without it being forced?
I was kinda hoping I could get turned to a ghoul, but the ghoul mask is just fine. Duster, Ghoul Mask, and Sheriff's Hat.
I'm like a wild wild west spawn (or Freddy kreuger)
The one that Berk wears. I thought it was fitting. I know what you mean about the medical braces too, they are all over until you find the schematics for the Death Claw. I searched the Our Lady Hope Hospital top to bottom and finally found 1 medical brace in the basement.
I wandered into vault 112. So now I doubt I can do followed in his footsteps, which sucks.
burke? Fuck that hat. I'm wearing the Sheriffs hat from Megaton (Nuked that bitch off the face of the earth) and Vance's Duster, from the texas chainsaw massacre family.
I am wearing Ranger Combat Armor and a Pre-war Bonnett and Reading Glasses. Fly.
Can you use your deathclaw gauntlet with the sandman kills?
Cause that'd just be insane
Hehe yeah VATS melee is broken. Really helped in Tranquility Lane.
I'm making an all melee character next. I can't wait.
Yeah, seriously. I think I'm just going to start over and beat the shit out of everything with nailboards, baseball bats, and sabers.
and shishkebabs
Power fist is the only acceptable melee weapon
1. Powerfist is unarmed, no melee
2. Powerfist sucks compared to Deathclaw because DC ignores armor
if you're willing to waste a perk on Lawbringer, Plunkett's Valid Points is a good unarmed weapon since it uses the lowest amount of AP in the game.
imo there should be a way to beat the game by loving your enemies and turning the other cheek rather than having to kill everything
the closing cinematic would be a brutal, gorey, and grotesque public execution of your character with the hordes of humans, ghouls, and super-mutants cheering at your demise.
there will then be no resurrection.
Man I think I have to get this game.
y/n?
The ghoul mask isn't really that useful I never met a ghoul I wouldn't rather see dead
I'm going to wait for the trophy patch before resuming play, because it's a load of ass having to erase game saves.
I didn't meet Charon out of fear for wanting to let a ghoul live
If I had blown up megaton like i was supposed to i could've see and killed ghoul Moira :)
ok so how is contributing to the church of atom who want to see the bomb blow up a "good" thing
but then actually going ahead and blowing up the bomb like they want to a "bad" thing
i mean i know, it's just that... well you know.
It's the same way that negotiating to get the ghouls into tenpenny so they can kill tenpenny is a good thing but sneaking them into the basement so they can kill tenpenny is a bad thing.
...or being kind to dob in order to finagle the moriarty's password out of him is a "good" thing, but then actually using the password is a "bad" thing
right, right.
i haven't gotten far enough into the game to see all these inconsistencies. i put it down for a couple weeks and am just picking it back up.
disappointingly there were many dialogue possibilities that were not explored in this game.
ex.:
*Who do you live with?
*What's your name?
[Kid at Heart] I have a monkey in my apartment. Want to go play with him?
"I have a monkey in my apartment. Want to go play with him?"
"Sure, that sounds like fun!"
You have lost karma!
I still don't understand how killing the family (a group of murderous cannibals) can take you from good to very evil in one fell swoop.
It took me from very evil to very evil with a flaming fucking sword in one fell swoop :)
It was more a flavor thing
Oh I still kill them in droves, but I wear it too look cool
Charon?
Also, ghoul moira?
It may be evil, but god damn is it funny
When you blow up Megaton, Moira becomes a ghoul living in Underworld and will allow you to do all of the quests she offers as well as buy stuff.
If President John Henry Eden is still alive in 60 minutes, I blow up Megaton.
So my character is the guy from doom now when you use that boost to make your punches insane.
It's awesome
RIP AND TEARRRRR
THESE GUYS LOOK LIKE THEY'RE FULL OF GUUUUUTSS
lol
Bumping to inform everyone that the G.E.C.K. is now out.
