Default What's your "perfect game" mashup?

Here's mine for an MMO RPG:

    World like Skyrim

    Economy like Ultima Online

User-generated buildings/caves/tunnels/etc like Minecraft (with appropriate costs for tools/"dig permits"/etc to make the cost of a player-built house comparable to purchasing from NPC)

Player population of World of Warcraft

Big-ass map (computer-generated for be nearly infinite like Minecraft?) with some kind of way to get around quicker like mark/recall or gates.

    Weapons and Magic

    Integrated web browser

    Many options for avatar design

Ever play Shadowrun? The SNES version or was it SEGA? Anyway it was a RPG game. I'd love it if there was a game like it. The MS version of Shadowrun didn't do it justice.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was pretty close. It could have been a tad more like Thief 1/2 though.

    Tremulous's everything + BF3's 2011 graphics and sound.

Shooters today are way too focused on "real-feeling".

Basically every mashup I can think of is of the form "old game I liked" + "updated graphics and sound". WC3+modernization would be awesome, but the Warcraft universe seems bound to the bowels of WoW for eternity. New SMB Wii was a good example of what I wish there was more of.

GW2 seems to be the closest thing the more I see it, especially after SWTOR left a horrible taste in my mouth.

I agree. Just all out massive space war battles of 1000 vs 1000 players.

I was basically going to say that GW2 sounds more and more like the video game mash-up I'm looking for.

There's a complete single player experience with the instanced "home" part of your city.

In the open world, there's dynamic events with branching plot lines that can be picked up by players who happen to otherwise be in the zone. (This is in contrast to Rift, where there's no real plot line to the dynamic events. Rifts that might revolve around particular themes just spring up. There's no branching possibilities either.)

There seem to be hundreds of interesting puzzles and unique challenges tucked into zones that each give skill points to learn new class skills.

There's a good line up of minigames like bar brawls that seem like fun diversions from the other game activities.

The only things it'll be missing that I would have liked in my ideal game are non-combat options for gameplay through a crafting system as deeply designed as the combat gameplay and the option for players to develop cities and towns through their own buildings. But to accommodate these aspects would probably require compromising others, so I don't care too much about this.

But I guess it remains to be seen if GW2 will be not just the MMO but the multiplayer RPG we've been waiting for.

    ...or this.

    That would be amazing.

It's a shame that it's impossible to get X-Wing or Tie Fighter anywhere now. I don't think I've enjoyed a space combat game nearly half as much as Tie Fighter.

    buy.guildwars2.com

Pre-purchase it and you get the bonuses.

No monthly subscription for a content filled game is worth the 60 bucks.
